ADDISONÕS DISEASE

AddisonÕs disease is a shutting down of the adrenal glands that causes fluid loss, sodium loss, fatigue, exhaustion and can cause death.  Medical doctors always treat it using adrenal hormone replacement therapy, usually cortisone therapy in the form of hydrocortisone, Prednisone or similar drugs.

For many years, I believed this was the only treatment for this rather devastating condition.   However, in the past few years I have worked with a number of individuals who were given a diagnosis of AddisonÕs disease.  In every single one of these cases, the problem was corrected without the need to remain on cortisone therapy.  In fact, the drug therapy got in the way and all the clients were able to wean off their cortisone medication.

This leads me to believe that, perhaps, at least some cases of AddisonÕs disease are really just an extreme form of adrenal exhaustion or adrenal burnout syndrome, as some call it.  In other words, I am not sure if there are cases of AddisonÕs disease that would not respond to nutritional balancing programs, but so far, those that have come my way, without exception, have responded very well.
