SEEKING THE TRUTH AND HOW TO USE GUIDANCE

by Lawrence Wilson, MD

Seeking the truth about all things is a very noble goal.  There are many levels of truth.  There is truth that is found in books, but truth can also come directly to a person through the mind or through intuitive guidance of various kinds.  This is a knowing within in some way.

Guidance is a very complex topic with which I have some experience, as I have been interested in it for at least 30 years.  Let us first explore it from a physiological viewpoint by examining the ÔtuningÕ faculty of the human brain.  Then we will discuss how to obtain guidance from other sources, and how to check it for accuracy.  Many people claim to tune into guidance, but it is often quite inaccurate.

THE TUNING FACULTY OF THE MIND

Our minds are able to tune themselves to various frequencies or levels, just like a radio or television set.  This topic is discussed in depth in the new edition of Nutritional Balancing And Hair Mineral Analysis, (fourth edition, 2010). Guidance has much to do with this faculty of the mind.

The basic idea is that our minds can tune to various levels, very similar to a radio that can tune to different channels.  The quality and breadth of the tuning is largely dependent upon oneÕs state of physical and mental health, although it also has to do with mental development, a topic discussed elsewhere on this website.

Tuning into the body. For example, one may tune in to the body, and receive information about bodily needs and urges such as hunger pangs of the stomach.  Of course, this is normal and necessary.  It is mediated through hormones and the nervous system.  However, it can become a fixation and excessive.  People who are like this tend to spend too much time just thinking about food, restaurants, hearty meals and so on.  This phenomenon, which is common, is not simply physiological although it may feel that way.  It is, to some degree, a tuning disorder and a mental disorder, just as anorexia (lack of appetite) can be a mental disorder and not simply a physical one.

Tuning into others. Another normal way that human beings can Òtune inÓ is to other people and to their environment.  If this happens properly, one becomes personable, easy to get along with and generally honest.  If this faculty does not work properly, one may can become paranoid, for example, believing that others want to harm you even if it is not the case.  Nutritional imbalances can play a role in damaging the tuning mechanism, causing this disorder, or oneÕs early life experiences and traumas can be contributing causes.

Some are able to tune in very strongly to others.  As a result, they can receive information and guidance that is remarkable about other people.  We call these people ÔpsychicÕ or ÔintuitiveÕ for example.  Women are often better at it than men.  It is not that women are smarter.  It is often just that they tune in better to other people, while men focus their attention elsewhere, perhaps on business matters or other things.

Those who tune into people too much tend to want to Òfollow the crowdÓ, see the latest movies and wear the latest clothing fashions, perhaps, so that they will be approved by other people.  This is actually a mental disorder, although it is commonly accepted in Ôsociety circlesÕ as being perfectly normal and even beneficial.

Tuning into higher frequencies. One can also tune in to higher brain centers in oneself or others.  Then guidance will be from logic, perhaps, or from what is called hunches, meaning ways that one really does not understand.  The smartest and most effective people can all tune in well to their higher brain centers so they can listen when their logical mind tells them what to do and what not to do.

One may also tune in to even higher levels or frequencies that are associated with even finer brain centers that can connect a person with other realms or dimensions.  This is not easy to do for most people.  As a result, when it happens it is usually in a rather uncontrolled and frightening way.  It causes personality disorders and mental illness such as detachment from this reality, spaciness, and schizoid or even schizophrenic tendencies in which people hear voices or hallucinate at times.

However, when it works adequately a person is able to tune into angelic or other non-physical beings or perhaps forces that guide human beings.  Such people may work as psychics, mediums, channelers and other such occupations.  This is a brief introduction to the human tuning faculty, one of the most unique abilities of human beings.

GUIDANCE IS COMPLEX AND MYSTERIOUS

Guidance can be simple, such as turning to the internet for answers, or opening the bible for direction.  However, it can also be extremely mysterious.  For example, I recall hearing a story that during a routine airplane flight, a woman suddenly heard a voice from out of nowhere that told her to get up and go to another seat on the plane.  She did not know where the voice came from as it was unfamiliar and there was no one around.  However, she obeyed.  About a half hour later, a small explosion occurred on the plane and the seat she had been occupying was literally blown out of the plane and she would have been killed.  These incidents, in fact, happen a lot and are examples of an unusual type of guidance that is very direct and concrete.

I once attended a Catholic mass in Scottsdale, Arizona, in which a group of young people who had previously been on a pilgrimage to a famous Catholic shrine were able to receive messages from Mother Mary on a regular basis.  The messages were read aloud during the mass.  It was permitted, although I donÕt think all the priests and leaders liked the idea.

Other guidance is even more subtle.  Many people report they get information from dreams, or have brilliant flashes of insight that they cannot explain.

HOW TO ASK FOR GUIDANCE - PRAYERS AND AFFIRMATIONS TO HELP TUNE IN TO GUIDANCE

Many ways exist to ask for inspired guidance.  For example,   I studied the work of Edgar Cayce, a famous Christian healer and channeler.  He suggested that we all say something like the following:

1. ÒBe thou the guide, show me the wayÓ.

2. ÒFather, what would you have me do or say this dayÓ.

3. (the most powerful) ÒTake me, use me this day, Father, to do thy will.  They will, not my will, be done in and through me.  May I do thy will and by thy will in action (or in the flesh)Ó.

BLOCKS TO EXCELLENT GUIDANCE

Repeating the phrases above each and every day is an excellent start to receive quality guidance.  However, just repeating these phrases may not be enough if a person has deeper blocks or impediments of some kind that are interfering with receiving and utilizing guidance.  The main blocks to guidance that I have observed are:

1. Lack of awareness that guidance is always there for you.  This is part of the new liberal mentality that cannot believe in spiritual or unseen goodness in the world.  It is often the product of what I call the anti-biblical mentality.  The bible teaches that there are angels, prophetic dreams, and miraculous forces all around us.  However, the bible is now banned in public schools so many younger people, especially, have no access to this information.

2. Keeping oneÕs life too ÒfullÓ of worldly life and oneself.  This may sound unusual, but it is the normal state of most people.  Millions of people are so busy, with such ÒfullÓ lives, that there is little time or energy devoted to quiet reflection and to listening to Òthe still small voice withinÓ, as some call it.
To really receive and act upon guidance, one needs to become as ÒemptyÓ as possible inside, in order to leave space and time for guidance to be received.  This means having an attitude that one does not have the answers oneself, and that by keeping a kind of empty space within oneself that Òin oneÕs helplessness, help will comeÓ.
I sometimes say to myself Òempty of self, empty of striving, I am open to guidanceÓ.  Then one must follow that by keeping that open, unknowing, helpless or empty space inside of oneself, and not just run out and fill it up with mental and physical activities.  I have found, for example, that if I take a very slow, gentle walk and empty my mind when I begin the walk, often creative and important thoughts will begin to flood into the mind that were not there while I was busy at home.  Often these are just thoughts of things I need to do that day, that I had forgotten.  But I am always very grateful for them.  Being grateful for your guidance is another key, and may be related to the next block, fear.

2. Fear of guidance. Some are afraid that the guidance will reveal that one is a horrible, guilty person.  In other words, they believe that the guidance will just condemn them, or perhaps they will be asked to do something terrible or at least difficult or unpleasant.  Other fears are that some alien or ÒdevilÓ will take over their mind if they listen, and just wants to hurt them.  These fears are real and must be dealt with.  Some ways to handle them are discussed in the sections below.

3. Hopelessness or victim thinking. Many people I meet have a generally negative attitude about life and do not believe in the availability of much help for themselves in any regard.  They believe life on earth is just a game of chance and they are victims of others and of life, in general.  This is totally false, but it is what is taught in the public schools and often by the media, and even by some religious organizations, very sadly.  The truth is not this at all.  Each of us is a sovereign, incredible, spiritual being who is just here on earth for a little while to learn lessons and to bless and forgive others.  There is amazing help available to all.

4. Agitation. In these instances, the mind is so agitated or distracted that guidance cannot come in very easily.  This happens often, especially in those who are unhealthy or have unhealthy lifestyles.

5. Ill health. In many people today, the higher brain centers that receive and process guidance donÕt work well.  They may not receive the signal well, or reception is inconsistent.  At times, messages become ÒfilteredÓ and distorted, or they have other difficulties due to poor nutrition, for example.  Not only does this ruin the guidance, but it may frighten or discourage the person from seeking guidance in the future.

6. A stubborn ego that refuses to listen to guidance.  This is also quite common.  In some cases it is due to certain toxic metals in the brain, such as excessive iron or copper.  It might have to do with childhood traumas in which one listened to an adult, for example, and was led astray.  In some cases, it is an old personality pattern that needs to be released.  It could also be due to intense fear of God or fear of the future, or possibly other reasons.  Whatever the reason, if you notice this about yourself, seek to reduce it so that guidance may flow in more easily and you wonÕt reject it out of hand.

7. Laziness. Many people receive wonderful guidance, perhaps through dreams or a wise friend or relative, or by some other means.  However, they are either lazy or just distracted, so they donÕt act upon it.  This is also very common.  If you notice this about yourself, set aside time each day to write down your dreams, or information from trusted friends or relatives.  At least keep a diary or notebook of the information so that in a relaxed moment you can refer to it and hopefully act upon it.  Poor health, lack of rest or other problems may be part of the problem.  If so, they need to be attended to.

8. Conflicts. Guidance often conflicts with oneÕs belief system to some degree, though not always.  For example, one may become aware of guides who claim to be from the angelic realm.  However, if one believes that angels are not real, then one would tend to ignore or even suppress this guidance.  In other cases, a person who is devoutly religious might hear a suggestion that goes against his religious convictions.  This may stop the person from listening to the advice.

9. Inability, at times, to suspend judgments about oneself, about others or about situations. This is often the source of conflicts discussed in the section above.  To receive valid guidance, one may need to avoid judging someoneÕs words or actions too quickly.  Otherwise, one may just discredit the words, or place too much emphasis upon them as well.  The peculiar quality of being able to suspend judgment in order to discern in the moment is discussed at the end of this article.

POSSIBLE SOURCES OF UNSEEN OR MYSTERIOUS GUIDANCE

Some say that all unseen guidance is simply coming from the unconscious mind.  However, the question then arises how very detailed and technical information, at times, could come from the unconscious mind of a person with no training or experience.

Several theories have been offered to answer this:

1. We all share a Òcollective unconsciousÓ.  This idea was put forth primarily by Dr. Carl Jung, MD, a prominent  psychoanalyst.  If this is the case, then anyone can theoretically tune in to any information, no matter how technical or foreign it appears to be to that person.  Some have called the collective mind the mind of Christ or the mind of God.  It is written about in some metaphysical books.  If this is the case, then unusual or technical information may be accessed by a person in this manner.

2. We all have guides or beings that help us.  They may be called angels or guardians, or whatever.  Therefore the information is not really from the unconscious, but is given to us by these beings.

3. In the case of dreams, some say that we leave our physical bodies at night and the soul can travel freely in another dimension to distant places and even to distant planets or universes.  This is called astral travel or perhaps soul travel.  Thus we might learn some unusual piece of information on one of these travels that we remember the next day, or that goes into our unconscious mind and is recalled at some later time.

4. Some religions teach that we have lived before.  This is the idea of reincarnation.  It is a popular concept in the Orient and it is part of Hinduism, Buddhism and many religions of this part of the world.  The Hebrew and Christian bibles hint at it as well with statements such as ÒAs you sow, so shall you reapÓ.  Jesus also made statements to the effect that he had been here before.  Some say he had been the prophet Isaiah.

If this is the case, then unusual or technical information may arise because one knew it in a past lifetime, and the memory of it is returning this lifetime.

5. Advanced beings are able to download or bring forth the information in some manner.  Perhaps they imprint it into our minds, or in some other way.

6. Information may come from people who have lived on earth and who died, but whose souls are still hovering here on earth.  They might be termed ghosts, entities, or discarnates, since they are people without physical bodies.  This idea is explained in books such as The Unquiet Dead written by Edith Fiore and perhaps by other authors as well.  Do not listen to these sources.  They are often up to no good, not very intelligent, clever and not looking out for your best interests.

FIGURING OUT WHERE GUIDANCE COMES FROM

The problem with all guidance is evaluating it and deciding what to do with it.  This is a problem even if one follows guidance from oneÕs parents or friends.  Obviously, one way to begin to check or evaluate guidance is to ask others about it whom you trust, or to attempt to confirm it with other methods.  This is sometimes easy.  At other times, it is very difficult or even embarrassing.

If the guidance is from an unseen source such as a dream or a voice that you heard, it is even more difficult to confirm the guidance and decide if it is valid or just your imagination at work.

The main way to evaluate guidance of this type is to ask, using these exact words:

Is this the absolute truth, all in the light of Christ alone?

You must receive a yes answer.  If you get any other answer beside yes, do not listen to the guidance as it is likely totally false and possibly very harmful.  If you get no answer, that is the same as a NO answer.

Other steps to help one evaluate guidance, especially that which comes in mysterious ways:

1. Pay more attention to your physical and emotional health.  This may seem unusual.  However, our brains are physical and biochemical organs, first of all.  For them to function properly, the body and the brain must be well nourished, well-rested, well-hydrated, and well-oxygenated.  Having enough of minerals such as zinc, selenium, chromium and others are absolutely essential for proper brain activity.

So paying attention to oneÕs diet, drinking water, plenty of sleep and other aspects of physical and mental health are most important.  Ideally, a complete nutritional balancing program is extremely helpful.  If at all possible, include the daily use of a near infrared sauna for a few years, daily coffee enemas and the Roy Masters meditation exercise, as these will help clear the mind and the emotions so that you can think clearly.

Know that any yin substance such as fruit, sugar, smoothies, avocado, chemicals of any kind, and even too much watery energy around you can ruin your guidance because of its yin nature.

2. Beware especially vigilant about alcohol or drugs. These are well known to open people to very negative guidance from discarnate entities who seek to cause mischief or just to use people Òto see what will happenÓ.  I am told this is real and very dangerous.  It is one reason people do crazy things when drunk or ÔhighÕ, and it is the main reason to avoid drugs and alcohol, other than the damage to your brain and other body organs.
Know that marijuana is one of the drugs that can open a person to negativity and harmful guidance.  Also, habitual use of prescription and over-the-counter medications such as sleeping pills, amphetamines, Ritalin, Adderal and many others can also open one up to negative entities and negative guidance.

3. Use your logical, conscious mind to check the information any way that you can.  Check anything you can using pure logic and reason, alone.  Do not just settle for hunches and intuitions, if possible.  If you seem to receive guidance to avoid something, check it carefully using logical methods, where possible, for example.
Also, you might discuss the guidance with someone who is open-minded, but very grounded and logical.  Ask if there are ways it could be checked.  This is not the same as trying to ÒdebunkÓ or find fault with the information.  It is simply that some types of information should be able to be checked logically.  For example, it someone tells you that a person cheated you on a purchase, go to your records and find out if it is true.  That is all this entails.

4. Ask that the information be repeated to you.  I always check guidance many times to make sure I was not distracted, tired, hungry or otherwise out of sorts when the information first presented itself.  Asking for repetition many times can help prevent this problem.  And each time ask if it is the absolute truth, all in the light of Christ alone, as explained above.

5. Ask for the source of the guidance.  This can be crucial, at times.  It is a little more involved, so it is discussed in depth in the next section.  But always then ask if this is the truth in the light of Christ alone.

6. If the information in a dream or elsewhere seems safe and passes the tests above you may try following the advice carefully and gently and see what happens.  Perhaps first ask yourself what is the worst that could happen if the advice is wrong, and decide if you can live with it.  In other words, I do not suggest doing anything dangerous, costly, or possibly harmful to yourself or others.  However, if acting on the hunch or information does not cause extreme consequences, then trying out the advice carefully is often an excellent idea.

For example, if one dreams that one must speak to a friend about her marriage, for example, it is not too far fetched to just imagine that maybe there is a problem that the friend would like to talk about.  Bringing it up might alienate the friend, however, so this possibility should be mentioned to the friend.  If you feel comfortable enough, just tell your friend you had a dream and thought to mention it to her.

On the other hand, if one has a dream or is told to bet all of oneÕs money on a particular lottery ticket, this is much less logical. Be very careful about doing anything about it, since it could just be a desire on the part of your unconscious.  I suppose one could test it by betting one dollar or even less, and see what happens.  However, true guidance should be logical and sensible.  If it is not, then scrutinize it carefully and be prepared to dismiss it.

Older methods of checking and getting guidance I am told are much less reliable include going to psychics, using pendulums or other methods of dowsing, or using a Ouija board. The pendulum and Ouija board can more easily be influenced by negative beings, so beware.  Psychics can be of many types and their information or variable accuracy, and one does not know when the information is accurate and when it is not.  So again, beware.

I once felt very confused in my life and did not know where to turn.  A friend suggested visiting a psychic, but I was very skeptical.  My solution was to visit about four psychics within a week.  I decided that by doing so, I would less likely be overly influenced by any one of them.  This actually was helpful.  However, I donÕt recommend this unless you are very open-minded, yet perfectly willing to absolutely ignore all that you heart.

Muscle testing or applied kinesiology. I am told by more experienced people in this field that muscle testing or applied kinesiology, while still not that reliable, is better than these older methods.  However, for muscle testing to be even slightly reliable, one needs to be truly relaxed, well-hydrated and not hungry or tired.  Even then, I was very skeptical of this method and skepticism is good.  This is not the same as being close-minded.  Continue to check your answers with logic and reason whenever possible.

BIBLICAL METHODS OF TUNING INTO GUIDANCE

The New Testament of the Holy Bible recommends a rather simple method of obtaining and checking guidance.  The bible suggests that we ask the holy spirit for guidance.  The holy spirit, also called the holy ghost in Catholicism, is a part of the trinity that helps connect us with god and with Jesus.  It is a kind of go-between.  Asking it for clarity and wisdom and truth often during the day may help one to connect with higher sources of guidance.  Many simple prayers can do the same thing, including the familiar ÒOur FatherÓ prayer.

This method can help people avoid quick judgments based on knowing few facts, in many cases.  Many Christians, in fact, should practice this method more often instead of judging people quickly based on inadequate information.  For example, some criticize any nutritional method as being anti-biblical.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  It is just that in biblical times food quality was not an issue and modern scientific methods of nutritional analysis were not available, so of course they are not mentioned in the bible.  This does not mean they are not helpful, of course.

Consulting the holy spirit before judging or discerning any situation reminds one of the biblical quote, Òjudge not lest you be judgedÓ and Òforgive seventy times seven timesÓ.

A question that arises is whether if one withholds judgment that it means that one has no morals or standards.  The answer is that it is not the same.  One can discern a situation and take appropriate action without having to judge in a final manner.  The old way of judging is simply replaced by a new method of assessing situations.  This involves discerning in the moment rather than prejudging people and situations according to a fixed system of rules and principles, such as those found in the bible and elsewhere.  Since this is unfamiliar to many people, let us explore it more deeply.  A good place to begin is to compare judgment, discernment and moral relativism.

MORAL RELATIVISM

Moral relativism is the very popular belief that asserts there is no absolute truth or morality.  One of its sayings is ÒI have my truth and you can have your truthÓ.  As a result, they say, if I want to lie, cheat and steal it is fine.  If you donÕt like it, that is just too bad.

This perspective is sometimes called the anti-biblical perspective because can be just a reaction against fixed rules of behavior such as the Ten Commandments and many others.  Sadly, this attitude about life is commonly taught in colleges, if not directly then by implication.  It is the idea that rules are stupid and old fashioned and one should just do what makes one ÒhappyÓ, usually in the moment.

Is there ultimate truth? Those who believe in moral relativism rightly point out that what is true now may turn out to be false in the future when new information is presented.  Therefore, how can one know the truth ever?  This is a daunting question, in fact.

The answer is that one never has ALL the facts, so the truth is an unfolding process.  For thousands of years, some believed the earth was flat, for example, until greater knowledge showed people it was not true.  However, we should and can learn from history that certain behaviors, certain ideas, even certain physics principles tend to be true, while others tend not to be true.  In other words, we can approximate the truth if we seek deeply.  To say that there is no truth is therefore not the case and it is often a way to avoid reality or conscience.
For our leaders, it is often the best excuse to lie, cheat and even alter the history books and what is taught in school in order to grow their own power and confuse the masses.  Sadly, this is the major use of moral relativism today – to confuse others in order to control them more easily.  For example, Karl Marx taught that Òthe ends justify the meansÓ.  Translated, this means that it is ok to lie, cheat, steal and murder to achieve communism and socialism.  Since these behaviors do not square with the biblical commandments, many Marxists justify their behavior by saying that there is no truth, which is moral relativism.  I urge anyone who follows this idea about truth to consider that it is possible they are being used by minds that wish to keep them in the dark by discouraging them from seeking truth at all times.

The only time that moral relativism might be helpful for a person is if he or she feels that his whole life is ruled by ÔmustsÕ, ÔshouldsÕ, and ÔoughtsÕ.  However, as soon as one lets go of the compulsive rule-following behavior, one will generally find that certain rules of conduct, especially those in the Ten Commandments, make very good sense.  The fact that the Ten Commandments are barred from our schools, and even our courtrooms, is quite sad, really.  Even if one disagrees with them, they are a very good start on a set of principles to live by that have been tested for thousands of years.  We always ignore history at our peril.

DISCERNING IN THE MOMENT

This is the approach taught to the Western world by Jesus of Nazareth and other great minds, but unfortunately it not taught often by the church.  In part, this is done for good reason because it is harder to understand.  However, it is time for many to learn and practice it, so I want to expand upon it.  It is a form of guidance that is not explained in detail too often.

Jesus frequently, when faced with a problem or choice or dilemma, sat and prayed as follows ÒFather, what would you have me do?Ó  or ÒFather, what is your wish in this matter?Ó or ÒFather, thy wil, not mine be doneÓ.  In other words, rather than rely upon fixed rules and regulations, he learned to sit quietly and Ôtune inÕ to his higher self or holy spirit, or  to his Father in heaven, and ask for guidance and wisdom in each moment.  One can say he consulted the holy spirit in each moment of his life.  This is the deepest teaching about how to discern or judge each situation in the world.

As a result, he did many unusual things that sometimes went against the standard rules.  However, he always had a good reason for it.  Perhaps it was to teach a lesson to others, or for some other reason.

While these unusual incidents are discussed in the bible and taught in church, the mechanism or rationale as to why they occurred is not always taught – Jesus was listening to his Father in heaven, or the holy spirit, when he decided to do these things, instead of just following the old rules, of which he was well aware.

Why donÕt the churches teach this method of tuning in to guidance?  The simple reason is that many people are not ready for this way of dealing with problems.  Instead, they just want hard and fast rules, so that is what the churches provide.  The problem is, these rules do not cover all situations, so one must still discern the truth in sometimes difficult situations.

Also, just following rules can cause serious problems in many situations.  It is possible to misjudge, basically, and thereby harm oneself or others, for example.  This is particularly the case with items that are not covered by the rules, such as nutrition, for example.

HOW DISCERNING IN THE MOMENT DIFFERS FROM MORAL RELATIVISM

The idea of Ôtuning inÕ to the holy spirit in every moment when one must make a decision can sound like moral relativism.  However, it is really the opposite.  Moral relativism is a lack of sharp discernment and is often just listening to the wants of the ego, or the sexual organs, or other bodily sensations.

Tuning in to the holy spirit, in contrast, is to seek for the essence of each situation and event, rather than its outer form.  This is a very deep kind of discernment, not the abandonment of wisdom often that is moral relativism.  It takes into account all of the older rules and regulations, plus more, in fact.  It requires a deep letting go of prejudices and preconceived notions.  Instead of coming from the emotions or the sexual organs or other body areas, it comes from the top of the head, and the guidance moves downward, always, never upwards.  This is a critical idea, in fact.

One can learn to do this, and can allow each person and each situation to reveal itself deeply.  When this is done, one will often be shown hidden or deeper meanings to some situations that might alter your perception of them.  This might then alter oneÕs actions, as well.

Here is a simple example from some tapes I once heard. Let us imagine a homeless person asks you for a meal.  Old preconceived notions may make you feel repelled, or angry about being bothered, or guilty, perhaps, because you have enough to eat, or to take pity on the person.  Unless you are vigilant, you may act from one of these old attitudes.

Instead, one can be silent and go within and ask, ÒFather, what would you have me do in this situation?Ó  It may be to cook the person a meal, offer some money, direct the person to a shelter, or possibly to not respond at all.  There is no fixed answer, as every situation is different.

You may know your actions are correct, if you are without fear and prejudice and feel a sense of inner peace.  Knowing is about being present, and is generally peaceful.

In one situation, you may find yourself in total compassion for the homeless person.  In another, you may realize this person is shirking his or responsibility.  Feeding him only perpetuates the problem and it is best to just smile and walk away.  In either case, you will directly experience the event more deeply, rather than simply form a judgment based on some prejudice or fixed idea.  This is how following the voice of the holy spirit works in practice.
