The chakras are spinning vortices of energy that energize and actually build the physical body.  The aura is a set of subtle bodies that completely surround and pass through the physical body of every living thing.

These two subtle energy systems form the basis for an unseen anatomy and physiology that will take on greater importance in the years to come.  This article is designed to introduce you to these subtle energy systems.  Their importance has everything to do with what I call development.  This is the fullest unfolding of the human potential, in terms of health, long life, wisdom and a deeper appreciation of who one is and what life is about.

THE CHAKRAS

The chakras are spinning vortices of energy that create the physical body.  They are located at the midline of the body, along the spine, as described below. The chakra system is divided into the physical chakras, of which there are seven major ones and many minor ones in places like the elbows, the knees and around the head.

All are double funnels joined at the narrow ends except the first and seventh.  While they move separately, as a unit they all move back and forth in a rhythmic motion and they wobble together up and down.  As they move back and forth, together they all pulse bright to dim.

Every person also has etheric and other more advanced chakras, which are generally found away from the physical body.  This article, however, concerns itself mostly with the seven physical chakras as these are most important for most people.

Chakras closed in most people.  When the chakras are smaller than about 2 inches long from the closed end to the open end of the funnel-shaped vortex of energy, chakras are called closed.  This is the normal condition of all children and most adults, sadly.

Ideally, the chakras should begin to open during the teenage years.  This means they begin to grow larger, mainly, and glow brighter.  Some people are born with one or more chakras open.  This is somewhat unusual and a mark of a more spiritually-oriented person.  In most people, one must work to open the chakras.

Factors that promote the opening of the chakras.  Many methods have been used throughout history to help people open the chakras and move more etheric energy through the body, from yoga postures and special diets to chanting, praying and others.

All of the older religions deal with this issue to some degree because for a person to mature in wisdom and character, one must open the chakras at least to some extent.  Today, however, the leaders and very few churchgoing people understand the energetic reasons for various practices and rituals that have been used for centuries, in most cases.  As a result, many religions are declining in popularity.  Some of this, however, is also due to the fact that the older methods of opening the chakras do not work nearly as well today, mainly because today the main impediment to opening the chakras in most people is the high level of toxicity and nutritional depletion of the bodies.

Chakras easy to open today.  Due to changes on planet earth, opening the chakras has never been easier.  Instead of long hours of praying or chanting in monasteries, often it can be done painlessly at home, while living a so-called normal home or family life.  This is a huge difference today.  As stated above, the main obstacles to the process today are health problems of the people, since a certain amount of physical health is needed to open the chakras.

The most important requirements for opening the chakras today are:

á           Improved diets with no toxic food additives, but not vegetarian diets and not raw food diets.  Meats contain the most etheric energy, an energy that appears to assist with opening of the chakras today, although in the past it was not as helpful.  Vegetables also appear to be most helpful.

á           Possibly other ways to remove toxic metals from the body

á           Renourishing, and especially remineralizing the body, but not just with vitamin and mineral tablets.  Foods appear to be needed for this process, as well.

á           Study of many types of information.  The best seems to be moral codes and texts such as the bible.  The next best appears to be freedom-related material including Austrian or free market economics, capitalist political philosophy such as The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith, and perhaps even engineering or other technical material.

á           Daily use of a near infrared sauna.

á           Daily coffee enema use

á           Other practices such as the Roy Masters and other meditations.

Opening the chakras faster is the main reason the above procedures are so highly recommended in nutritional balancing science.

The three lower chakras. The first three physical chakras are often referred to as the lower chakras. They are concerned with physical and emotional survival of the self and its growth, reproduction and development.  These dominate life as a child.  Most adults remain stuck at these lower levels of functioning, as well.  Following are more details about these chakras.

THE FIRST CHAKRA

This is also sometimes called the base chakra.  It should be located about two inches directly above the anal area if one is standing. Its shape is that of an extremely wide funnel facing downward and slightly forward at about a 15 degree angle. It looks like a ballet dress, slightly higher in front than in back because of the 15 degree forward tilt. It has a reddish or magenta color depending on oneÕs toxicity level.

The first chakra is associated with the reproductive system.  On a broader level, the first chakra concerns oneÕs physical base or structure. This includes oneÕs nutrition and lifestyle, eating habits, physical environment, how, where and with whom one lives, physical organs and systems, toxins and infections.  It also has to do with the autonomic nervous system, the stress response and oneÕs degree of grounding.

This chakra needs the most work in the majority of the population.  Exposure to toxic chemicals, unhealthy food and eating habits, and stressful lifestyles prevent the development of this chakra of energy center.  When this chakra is not developed, as is usually the case, a person is ungrounded, uncentered, and prone to every imaginable illness and mental problem as well.  Truly, this chakra is oneÕs connection with the earth, with grounding and knowing truly how to care for oneÕs body.

Factors that help the first chakra.  Red light, nutritional balancing and healthful, relaxed lifestyles help develop this chakra.

THE SECOND CHAKRA

This should be about three inches below the navel and about 3/4 of the way through to the back.  It looks like two narrow funnels, one opening forward and one opening backward, joined at the narrow end. The forward-opening funnel angles upward at 15 degrees. The backward-opening funnel angles down at 15 degrees. The color is light to dark orange depending on oneÕs toxicity level.

The second chakra is associated with the adrenal glands, and the large and small intestines and has to do with energy, chi or vital force.  On a broader level, it concerns the balance of the emotions, and masculine and feminine energy.  Those with difficulty in this area suppress either their masculine or feminine side with overdevelopment of the other aspect. This usually stems from childhood experiences although it can be due to toxic substances causing sex hormone imbalances.

Factors that assist the second chakra.  Orange light, mild physical exercise, yoga, tai chi and chi kung are helpful for this chakra.  Other useful therapies include Rolfing, jin shin jyutsu, shiatsu, acupuncture, acupressure, chiropractic, massage, feldenkreis work and other bodywork or body-centered therapies.  That is, any therapy that helps balance and strengthen the physical body is helpful for second chakra development.

THE THIRD CHAKRA

This should be about three horizontal fingers or two inches below the bottom of the sternum or breast bone and about 3/4 of the way through to the back.  It looks like two funnels that open at about 45-degree angles. One extends forward and up at a 15-degree angle. The other opens backward and is angled downward at 15 degrees. The color ranges from light to dark yellow depending on oneÕs toxicity level.

The third chakra is associated with the stomach, liver, spleen and pancreas.  On a broader level, the third chakra has to do with ego strength and issues regarding power, control and manipulation of the physical environment.  It is also concerned with thoughts, beliefs and judgments.  Those with difficulty in this area hold powerful negative thoughts or beliefs about the self or others.  Some feel they must manipulate and control others in order to survive.

Factors that help open the third chakra.  Yellow light, reading, meditation, affirmations, psychotherapy and positive imagery may be helpful to correct imbalances in this chakra.

THE FOURTH CHAKRA

This is also often called the heart chakra.  It should be in the center of the chest, at the level of the nipples, close to the bottom of the breast bone and 3/4 of the way through the back.  The shape is sometimes described as a lotus flower, rounded and extending outward in front and in the back. The flower in front should angle upward at 15 degrees.  The one in back should angle about 15 degrees downward.  The color varies from light green to dark grey depending on oneÕs health and toxicity level.

The fourth chakra is associated with the heart, lungs and thymus gland.  On a broader level, this chakra concerns giving and receiving, obligations and agreements, and receiving love and grace from other people and animals.  It also has to do with boundaries.  People with difficulty in this area often feel undeserving of love. They have Ôhardened their heartÕ for some reason.  Some are also selfish or lack motivation to accomplish tasks set before them.

The fourth is a transition chakra to the higher energy centers.  It is the first chakra that does not build the ego and instead, begins development of the higher emotions such as empathy, compassion and wisdom.

Factors that assist the opening of the fourth chakra.  Green light, pets, stress reduction therapy, prayer, some meditations, psychodrama and other therapies can help develop this chakra.

THE FIFTH CHAKRA

This is often called the throat chakra.  It should be at the level of the AdamÕs apple and 3/4 of the way back through the neck.  Its shape is like two wide funnels, joined at the narrow ends. The one that opens to the front should angle up 15 degrees.  The one that opens backward should angle down 15 degrees.  The color varies from light to dark blue depending on oneÕs toxicity level.

The fifth chakra is associated with the throat and thyroid gland.  On a broader level, this chakra concerns expression in the world through oneÕs work, hobbies, relationships, speaking, writing and so forth.  It also has to do generally with oneÕs work in the world and relationships with other workers.  Those with difficulty in this area are inhibited or feel incompetent, stupid or otherwise unable to express their gifts.  Blocked expression contributes to problems with the thyroid, throat, tonsils and neck.

Factors that help open the fifth chakra.  Bluish-colored light, counseling and learning to express oneself help develop this chakra.  Also, holding many jobs and working in the world are often very helpful for this chakra.

THE SIXTH CHAKRA

This is often also called the brow chakra or third eye chakra.  It should begin near the pituitary gland, between the eyebrows, inside the head about half way to the back of the head.  It appears like two very, very wide funnels, one extending forward and one extending backwards, joined at the narrow ends. The forward one should angle up 15 degrees. The one facing backward should angle down 15 degrees. They resemble the light beams from a lighthouse, one shining forward and the other backward.  The color ranges from light to dark indigo.

The sixth chakra is associated with the brain, especially  the eyes, vision and the pituitary gland.  It is sometimes called the third eye or brow chakra.  On a broader level, the sixth chakra is generally associated with wisdom and vision.  More specifically, it concerns the expansion of consciousness in wisdom, judgment, and possibly in competence, compassion or understanding of the Òbig pictureÓ.  When the chakra is open, one develops a broad vision of the world and the universe.  Those with difficulty in this area are focused on their ego lives or on some lower aspect of the self.  They are often successful in the ego world and understand some truth.  However, they lack a broad perspective and a desire to share their knowledge in the larger world.  As a result, their actions are limited in their impact on the larger world.

Factors that help develop the sixth chakra. Indigo light, travel, prayer, giving in charity, and study tends to help develop this chakra.  However, one must also desire at a deep level to share oneÕs wisdom freely in order for this chakra to develop fully.  This is actually rare on earth, where money and power are often concentrated in a few hands and they rarely desire to share what they know and have with others.

THE SEVENTH CHAKRA

This also called the crown chakra.  It should begin near the pineal gland, close to the middle of the skull.  It resembles a single, medium-width funnel opening upwards from the crown of the head, and tilted back at about a 15 degree angle.  Its color ranges from light to deep violet.

The seventh chakra is associated with the pineal gland and spiritual development.  On a broader level it is associated with conviction, knowing and alignment with purpose.  Opening the seventh chakra is necessary to receive greater knowledge and wisdom that is beyond the level of the physical body.  Those with difficulty in this area are aware of the truth, but donÕt always practice it, especially as it affects physical health. They may live on poor quality food or exhaust themselves, for example, although they know better. They may waver or allow others to influence them against their best interests.

Factors that assist the seventh chakra.  Violet light and a strong desire to connect with the higher self and practice what one knows help develop the seventh chakra. The use of the antenna of the multiwave oscillator also helps develop the seventh chakra.  Many other methods can also be used, especially a grounding meditation to bring energy in from the head downward to the body.

CHAKRA IMBALANCES

Prenatal Influences. Chakra imbalances often begin before one is born, although babies generally have chakras that spin evenly and with great intensity.  If oneÕs parents were in poor health, unbalanced emotionally, angry, distraught or genetically weak, the childÕs chakras are affected before birth by induction.  The motherÕs health, fitness and emotional balance is most important as the unborn child is so close to her all of the time.  However, the fatherÕs influence is also strong at all times due to his genetic influence and often due to his proximity and his effect on his wife.

Birth and childhood.  At birth, the chakras are narrow and less than two inches in length.  They spin fairly evenly and brightly, and are in the correct alignment.  Babies are usually in fairly good health, although today many are not in good health.  This will be reflected in chakras that are damaged-looking, such as dim, or deformed in shape, or darker in color.

As a child grows up, physical and emotional stress and trauma diminish the intensity of the chakras and distort and damage them in many ways.  They often begin to spin backwards and their color usually darkens due to improper food and emotional shocks to the system that disturb the delicate functioning of the chakra system.  This is the typical pattern that develops by the time a child has reached the teenage years.

Adulthood.  By the time one reaches adulthood, the chakras are usually distorted in their shape and most often, all of them rotate backward, unevenly and fairly slowly, which is not good.  Also, their brightness is diminished.  Their location is often off center and their color is often dark or grey.  Those that should rotate inward may rotate outward and vice versa. The result is toxicity, low vitality, and physical and emotional imbalances.  This is a harbinger of disease and death, since the chakras must function properly for health and healing to occur.

Causes of these distortions and imbalances include fatigue, which slows the chakra spin.  Emotional trauma is another important cause of imbalances.  Today poor quality diets affect the chakras greatly, as do injuries, accidents, illnesses, electromagnetic stress, geopathic stress and emotions such as fear, worry, unhappiness, anger, guilt and other negative emotions.

Low self-esteem, the result of traumas, usually, or school issues, also greatly affects the spin of the chakras.  This is why the emphasis today on self esteem is not all bad.  However, self esteem must be real and just rewarding children for fake achievements or phony grades or other reasons does not do much for the childÕs real self esteem.  Far better would be real challenges for the children that are geared to their level, so they could really earn a level of self esteem from their works.  This is provided in places such as the military, and is one reason for the popularity of the military, although of course it is a dangerous way to achieve it.

Later adulthood.  In most cases, the chakras just continue to lose intensity and their brilliant colors as life goes on.  This is sad, as it means that life is just ebbing away, even though the person may claim to be happy and may earn lots of money, raise a family and learn all manner of wisdom and knowledge.  What is missing is what is called development, discussed in other articles on this website.

Development is a special type of integration of the chakras that allows them to open, meaning become much larger, spin much faster and achieve a brightness that they cannot achieve each on its own.  This is the process that nutritional balancing can help with greatly, and it almost assures a more healthful and longer life.

CHAKRA INTEGRATION

Development requires detoxification of the body today, along with renourishing the body and often a type of balancing of the body that is not easy to achieve.  Nutritional balancing seems to provide a lot of this, for which reason I continue to recommend it.  This is the reason this science is so effective, in fact.  That is, it is not a physical nutritional science as much as it is the use of physical substances such as food and supplementary nutrients in a special way that Dr. Eck stumbled upon to integrate the body and mind in a special way that allows the chakras to open.  This may be called the esoteric understanding of nutritional balancing science and hair mineral analysis.

This is the reason that physical or biochemical knowledge alone cannot explain the reasons why one should eat only certain foods, take only certain supplements and not all the others, and so on.  The real reason is that the others do not integrate and cause development, although they may heal the body physically.

One may say, but who cares if the chakras develop, as long as the person feels better.  This is a valid argument from a physical standpoint.  The answer is that development actually brings a higher level of health than is even conceivable or remotely possibly with just physical or biochemical healing.  Of course, since it is invisible to most people, it is hard to prove.  The only proof is that people feel better in unusual ways, such as more vitality, a better attitude, emotionally more stable and other more subtle and often less tangible ways.

This is as much about the theory of the chakras as this article will present.  Later, as the charkas begin to grow and balance, they begin to overlap and the overall color of the upper chakras take on a whiter glow or appearance.  This is the traditional halo seen in  art works and pictures depicting saints and other holy people.  In fact, however, anyone can develop their chakras to this degree with some effort and persistence.

CHAKRA HEALING

Healing the chakras is a term used commonly in new age circles and among certain Oriental healers as well.  they often use methods that are ancient, including special breathing exercise, chanting, singing, special prayers, mantras (special words or phrases), mudras (special hand positions), meditations and color therapies.  In addition, they use many other therapies such as placing certain gemstones on the body, drinking various herbal teas, spinning pendulums and other items over the body, cranial adjustments, and such items as yoga postures, chi kung exercises and many other methods.

These older methods, while excellent, are not needed in most cases, provided a person will eat properly, sleep enough, live a healthful lifestyle, learn to think clearly and correctly, and renourish and remineralize the body.  In addition, certain supplements of minerals such as zinc, selenium, chromium, calcium and magnesium, in particular, are always needed for a while as well.

The use of the near infrared sauna, in particular, is also most helpful for most people for up to 10 years on a daily basis.  The reason for this is it helps detoxify the body and the red, orange and yellow colored light, along with near infrared, seems to activate the first chakra, which is a hidden key to development.

Why not use the older methods of chakra balancing? The reasons are that humanity has moved ahead spiritually in certain ways, and because the earth is now being flooded with special energies that have to do with the 12/12 (December 2012) or the Òend of daysÓ spoken of in the bible and in many other traditions.  As a result, the vibrations are being speeded up drastically compared to even 50 years ago, or even 30 years ago.

This may not be felt for some time, but the change is occurring.  One can tell, perhaps, in the newer interest in environmental health, natural healing, green technologies and so forth.  However, please know that most of this interest is misguided.  That is, it is mixed with fear that is causing the environmental movement to be a reactionary, anti-capitalist, anti-technology, anti-progress movement that is damaging the movement and harming the people of the earth.

There is nothing wrong with oil, natural gas, propane and other older technologies and there is not reason to stop using them.  Wind, solar and others are not yet viable and the people need cheap energy.  While they do pollute the earth and are finite resources, there is still plenty available and they should be used until cleaner technology is widely accepted, which is coming.

The pollution is due to the use of older methods of burning the fuels, and to nothing else.  Clean coal, clean oil, clean diesel and others are available today and are used mainly in America, but need to be used around the world now to prevent the ravages of pollution, mercury poisoning from coal and all the rest.

However, each nation must come to this themselves.  They cannot be forced by world bodies without interfering with the sovereignty of the nations, which is a horrible step backward and one step toward a world tyranny that will not likely be permitted.  So I am not speaking of the environmental movement when I say people are more interested in the environment.  I am speaking on a different level, not the political one.

No need for the older methods.  As a result, I am not going to detail all the known methods for chakra healing, which is the same as opening and balancing the chakras.  I will only mention one or two that are still very important, in addition to the ones discussed above.

CHAKRA CHANTING

Certain sounds energize the chakras. A ÔrrrrrÕ sound energizes the first chakra. An ÔehÕ sound energizes the second. An ÔeeeeÕ sound energizes the third. An ÔahÕ sound energizes the fourth. An ÔohÕ sound energizes the fifth. A ÔooÕ sound energizes the sixth. An ÔowÕ sound energizes the seventh.

CHAKRA MEDITATIONS

The Roy Masters meditation exercise energizes and balances the chakras in remarkable ways.  It is both safe and effective.  Religions and spiritual groups offer hundreds of other meditation that supposedly will help develop the chakras, either individually or all at once.  However, some are not safe, while many others are just not that effective.  Some modification of the Roy Masters procedure is needed, however.

Modifying the Roy Masters exercise.  The major modification is to move energy down the front of the body as forcefully as possible, moving it with force down from the crown of the head, not the third eye area, down to the right hand.  However, after a while one should move the energy down to the left hand as well, and then down into both the right and left feet and even below the feet.

Doing this repeatedly and forcefully, each time as though it were the first time, and never mechanically, will move energy in such a fashion that it energizes and balances and integrates all the chakras.  The name of this exercise is the current of life exercise.  It is somewhat different from the original Roy Masters exercise, so it deserves a different name.  It is a method used everywhere in the universe, as it is a universal method or principle that I happened upon quite by accident, using the Roy Masters method as a basis.  It is described on the CD that I offer about the meditation-observation exercise.

THE NON-PHYSICAL CHAKRA SYSTEM

The first seven chakras described above are on the physical body.  In addition to these, the other human bodies, sometimes called the subtle human bodies or energy bodies of a human being, also may have chakras or energy centers, at various times during their development.  So, for example, what is called the astral body or energy field has two chakras.  When one is undeveloped, the etheric, mental, causal, monadic and spiritual bodies have none.

As one unfolds spiritually, the etheric body develops seven chakras, although when this body is fully developed, they blend into one. The mental body develops two chakras as it develops.  Later these blend into one large energy center.  The causal, monadic and spiritual bodes each develop one chakra as they develop, and finally all of these blend into one very large rotating vortex of energy.  This never happens on planet earth, however, as this level of development is far above what is even possible on earth today.

The reason to mention all this, however, is to let everyone know that the human being is much more than a bag of bones, as many call it.  It is a wondrous organism that carries within it the seed of a great and powerful being, no matter how frail and small it may seem right now.
