DEFINITION

A tensegrity mast is a special type of tower that was invented by R. Buckminster Fuller in the mid-twentieth century. It is a very strong and lightweight tower design. It is characterized by continuous tension members and discontinuous compression members. To view photos of tensegrity masts, look them up on the internet.

THE HUMAN SPINE

Human and animal spinal columns look like and should function as tensegrity masts. However, almost everyone has so much damage to the structure of the spine that it rarely functions as a tensegrity mast. As a result, the spines are weak and back problems are common.

Psychological aspects. A weak spinal column can give rise to weak or faulty attitudes and beliefs. For example, a “spineless” person is one whose convictions are not firm.
