HYPNOSIS
AND BRAIN WASHING
by Lawrence Wilson, MD
© March 2011, The Center For Development
Planet
earth is plagued by massive brainwashing and hypnosis. These two methods of manipulating
others are yang and yin – meaning they are related. They go on everywhere, in families, in schools, in politics and particularly in the sexual
arena.
Hypnosis
is the gentle, stealth, more yin and seductive method. Brainwashing is the more violent, yang,
overtly controlling method of influencing people. That is really the main difference between them.
Spinning
the person backwards to weaken people.
In devious ways, these methods induce the equivalent of eddy
currents in the mind. Eddy
currents are currents of water that flow backwards and are small, but they suck
energy from the main current of a river.
These
backward flows upset the mind and effectively tend to separate a person from his or her own knowing, intuition, common sense
and guidance. They tend to
make people neurotic and even psychotic.
This is a harsh truth, and one that is hard to accept for many people
who believe they are fully conscious and in control of their bodies and their
minds. In fact, many people are
quite affected by these forces.
Ridding the mind of brainwashing and post-hypnotic suggestions is
extremely helpful and sometimes even necessary in order to progress on the path
of health and mental development.
I
first learned about hypnosis and brainwashing from Mr. Roy Masters, and his
website, www.fhu.com. I am very grateful to him for daring to
expose a lot of secret information about these subjects.
Hypnosis
and brain washing are massive topics.
This article just introduces them in a general way, to make you aware of
their presence on a mass scale on earth and how they affect you,
your friends and your families. By
being aware, you can start to undo some the conditioning. You will also understand and have more
compassion for the behavior of others, and have more compassion for yourself as
well.
Let
us begin with hypnosis, which is the more subtle of the two types of deep
conditioning that most people have.
HYPNOSIS
A definition. Hypnosis
is a very deep and subtle alteration or distortion of the brain of a human
being so that it responds in certain ways and not in others.
This
definition is vague, but it is the best I can find for the purpose of this
article. Other definitions, such
as relaxing a person, or the ability to tune into the unconscious, are not
sufficient for this article.
A
helpful computer analogy. Hypnosis
is a type of derangement of the brain that is somewhat like a computer virus,
but they have two special qualities:
1)
They are implanted at deep levels.
The ÒvirusÓ is at the operating system or more primitive programming
languages in the computer like HTML, GW BASIC or DOS,
for those with some computer training.
These languages on your computer are often completely unseen and usually
not understood or even accessible for the average individual. They are designed this way because it
is not necessary to understand them for daily working on the computer. Similarly, hypnosis works on levels
that are hardly accessible by the average person.
2)
The ÒvirusÓ is designed so that later on in life a skilled person, such as a
hypnotist or other manipulator, can piggyback other viruses or messages onto
them. These are called post-hypnotic suggestions.
This
computer analogy can help one understand how and why hypnosis works, and its
power and dangers. Those who
hypnotize others are like computer professionals or hackers that can sneak
inside your deep programming languages and make small, but important
alterations in the mind, somewhat like implanting a computer virus there.
Such
people include hypnotists, but also professional advertisers, sneaky
politicians, trial lawyers, and even some doctors, salesmen, and sex-happy men
and women. Sadly, even some
parents and teachers such as college professors are often adept at sneaking
inside the operating system of other peopleÕs minds and manipulating it to get
what they want. One often calls
these people manipulators, jerks, sharks, ripoff
artists, rogues, rapists, murderers or villains.
While
this sounds a little diabolical, it is not far from the truth. Calling in a hypnotist is a little like
calling in a computer programmer who knows about some of the hidden programs
running in the background of your mind, and who can change them somewhat. This is why extreme caution should be
used around hypnotists and all such people.
Con
(or confidence) men and women. This is another name given to those who act on people in
hypnotic ways. They are able to
instill confidence and trust when it should not be there. They are skilled at tricking people
into thinking and doing things they ordinarily would not think or would not do.
The only protections from these people
are: 1) dehypnotize yourself, and 2) at least know that almost all peopleÕs
minds are in a slight trance state and therefore subject to what hypnotists
call post-hypnotic suggestions.
Just knowing this fact can help you recognize the con artists. Such people are common and some are
hardly aware of what they are doing.
They may even say they love you – and they often do.
A
Tarzan analogy. Many readers have seen movies such as Crocodile Dundee and Tarzan Visits New York, or a similar
story line. These movies are
comedies, in part, because they are about men who are not hypnotized by Western
ÒcivilizedÓ society. The hero is
usually very ÒsharpÓ because people simply cannot fool him as easily as they
can fool everyone else in the big city.
The
movies are funny to watch because they can help us appreciate how brainwashed
or hypnotized many people are, and the silly problems they create as a result. The hero of the movie is not as
hypnotized, so they see right through the idiocy and stupidity of most people
and succeed as a result.
SOME PRINCIPLES OF HYPNOSIS
Hypnotists
often do not reveal their secrets.
Here are some principles that Roy Masters and other hypnotists have
shared that are somewhat disturbing, but true:
¯
The dual nature of hypnosis. One is always dealing with two aspects
of hypnosis. The first is the
original trauma or alteration of the brain. This usually occurred very early in life.
However,
one is also dealing with post-hypnotic suggestions that were implanted by
parents, teachers and others later in life. They were only able to do this because of the first
alteration of the brain that usually occurred very early in oneÕs lifetime.
¯ Most everyone is hypnotized to a
degree. That is, most people live
in a light trance state.
Roy Masters calls this Òthe hypnosis of lifeÓ. It is very real, and it explains a lot of odd behavior and
human dilemmas. In fact, it has to
do with the nature of physical life, as will be explained in more detail later
in this article.
¯ A
good hypnotist can make many people do just about anything, including have sex
with a stranger or pick up a gun and shoot someone. This is done by telling the person that the other is about to
harm him or her, even if it is not true.
It is possible to induce a person to have sex with even an animal, at
times, by telling the person it is not a dog, but a person. This sounds very odd, but it can be
done.
I
once attended a seminar by Mr. Masters in which he demonstrated, in a benign
manner, how he could take random volunteers from the audience and cause them do
ridiculous things they would never ordinarily do, especially in public. It was so easy for him to manipulate
their minds that it was quite shocking to me.
Assassins
that are trained under hypnosis have carried out murders in America and
elsewhere, usually trained by the Russian or Red Chinese secret police
forces. This is just one example
of how hypnosis and post-hypnotic suggestions are commonly used for bad
purposes.
¯
It is always dangerous to allow yourself
to be hypnotized by anyone. It is true that it can be used for healing,
but be especially cautious and I do not recommend it. This use of hypnosis is often called hypnotherapy or hypnotic
regression, in which a person is taken back to an earlier time in his or
her life when a trauma or illness occurred. Then the hypnotherapist replays and perhaps reworks the
incident with the person so that it is less traumatic and damaging. Sometimes the entire incident or trauma
can be cleared. However,
it is always dangerous to allow yourself to be hypnotized.
In contrast, nutritional balancing
science can often undo your past traumas, undo post-traumatic stress disorder,
and bring about the same results as hypnotherapy in a much safer, though perhaps
slower manner by nourishing the brain, balancing the body and through the use
of the Roy Masters meditation exercise.

¯
Television, radio and other advertising often
use principles of hypnosis to entrain and then sell products and services. To entrain people means to
get them to think a certain way. This
is standard practice, and, in fact, is taught in schools of advertising and
promotion.
The idea is to begin with a mind that is
already slightly hypnotized and add a post-hypnotic suggestion to buy a
particular product or service.
Later on, when the victim is out shopping and encounters the product in
a store, the subliminal message from the past will be triggered and the person
will pick up the product and try it.
Usually,
advertising implants a post-hypnotic
suggestion in a completely unconscious manner. The secret of its success is that the person must already by
hypnotized to a degree. Some, who
are less hypnotized, can see right through phony hype, but most people cannot.
The
same techniques are well understood by some corrupt politicians who just seem to be re-elected year after year
in spite of being liars or incompetents.
Subliminal
post-hypnotic suggestions are different from just announcing to the public that
you have a product to sell or that you are running for office. Post-hypnotic suggestions always play
upon the emotions and use symbols and metaphors, because this is how the human
mind works.
¯
How post-hypnotic suggestion works.
To connect with a personÕs psyche, the advertisement needs to tap into
themes and metaphors that have meaning for the target audience. The most obvious one used in
advertising is a sex symbol such as a scantily-dressed lady or man. Another popular one is a smiling family
with children. Still another
trigger is a display of wealth or opulence, such as a fancy automobile. Advertisers spend a fortune figuring
out which ads will be successful because the metaphors and symbols people
respond to change somewhat over time.
This they call market research.
However,
lest you think that corporations are the culprits, governments are often far
worse. They intentionally upset,
deceive, lie and in many nations oppress the people to wear them down and
secretly control them.
¯ Children are particularly vulnerable to
post-hypnotic suggestions. The reason is that children have not
developed their intellect to a high degree. They are often more controlled by their emotions, which is a
target of hypnotists and con artists.
Advertisers
know this and, for this reason, often target young children because if they can
condition the childrenÕs minds at a young age, they will often be in control of
them for life. Political leaders
such as Hitler, Stalin, and Mao Tze Tung always targeted
the young for their propaganda campaigns because they also understood hypnosis
well. The entire German population
of World War II was quite mesmerized or hypnotized by the Nazi propaganda
machine to such an extent that they looked the other way when thousands of
their neighbors and countrymen were carted off to death camps right before
their eyes.
This
is an example of mass hypnosis, a
type of hypnotic trance that is probably the most dangerous for humanity. It is the type that is used by many
politicians. It can be used for
good, such as rallying the people to fight an enemy or to take heart when a
disaster occurs. It can also be
used to completely dominate a nation and destroy it for selfish or other purposes.
¯
Cults often make use of hypnotic states
to help control their members. This is important to know. The cult leader is often a charismatic
fellow who can impress people with his supposed kindness, brilliance, charm or
good looks, perhaps. Cults also
hypnotize people with slogans, phrases, words, political ideas like Òequality
for allÓ or ÒletÕs save the earthÓ.
¯
Physicality itself is a type of hypnotic
state. This is a more complex idea. It really means that physicality is a
limited state of mind. Some
magicians, for example, do amazing feats of escape, in part, because they are
able to train their minds to transcend a type of trance state in which people
believe they are limited.
Brilliant scientists and inventors are able, to a limited degree, to
overcome this trance state and thereby tune in to new information to make their
discoveries.
Even
some professional athletes are able to transcend this to a degree and can seem
to fly through the air, for example.
They are not flying, but by transcending a limited mentality that most
people have, they can perform better than the others.
¯
Christianity helps break a trance state.
This may seem off the subject.
However, a reason why Christianity spread so fast is that the teaching
that Jesus overcame death actually woke up a number of people from the trance
that death is the end of oneÕs life.
This intrigued the Roman emperors, for example, and caused them to
embrace and spread the new religion in the first few centuries AD.
I
mention this because anyone or anything that breaks a hypnotic trance has great
power, just as those who can hypnotize people have a certain power which might
be called Satanic by some.
¯
Organized religions often have the power
to hypnotize people. This helps keep the devotees in
line. The worst effects of this
are when the people then go to war in the name of God or religion, even though
they are not fighting for any worthwhile cause. The best effect of this occurs when people do the right
thing in a difficult situation, even though they are tired, weak, ill or would
otherwise be unable to do so. Thus
religion is always a double-edged sword, in part because of the power of
post-hypnotic suggestion.
¯
A good hypnotist can implant ÔtriggersÕ
or ÔcuesÕ in a person. For example, the hypnotist can implant
the suggestion that when the phone rings twice, or when the doorbell rings, a
post-hypnotic suggestion such as to kill whomever is in the room, even if it is
your wife, will go into effect.
This is used by some foreign police agencies to train hypnotized
assassins. It is also used by
lawyers who hypnotize juries, and in schools to condition students, among other
places.
MANKINDÕS UNIQUE METAPHYSICAL HYPNOTIC TRANCES OR BELIEFS
Beliefs
of all sorts are, in a general way, a type of hypnosis. Often, in order to progress, a person
must leave behind his or her beliefs.
This is because beliefs powerfully limit the mind. In this sense only, they resemble light
hypnotic trance states. All of us
have dealt with individuals who are almost totally caught up with their own
beliefs, so much that one cannot reason with the person at all. This is what I am referring to when I
say that beliefs can be a type of conditioning that goes deep, almost like a
hypnotic trance.
The
difference, however, is that most beliefs
are easy to change, such as by presenting facts to the contrary for the
person. True hypnosis, however, is very difficult to overcome because it
first occurred very early in life and, like the operating system of the
computer, it is almost Òbuilt inÓ to the personÕs psyche. However, plenty of people wake up from
their trance states, which is usually followed by some years of confusion and
upset until a new Òoperating systemÓ can be brought on line in the brain.
For
example, I recall when I first awakened to the reality that doctors did not
have the answers to many diseases.
The awakening was a shock that took me 10 years to move through. During that time I often wandered about
quite confused about how to think about health and disease.
In
a similar way, almost all of mankind has been hypnotized early in life or
perhaps even before this lifetime, with certain ideas that run very deep, much
like very deep computer languages or programming. Most are totally unaware of this. One purpose of this article is to awaken you from this
trance type of state of living.
Common beliefs of this nature are:
¯ Only
physical life is real.
This means that if I cannot touch, taste, feel, see or smell something, then it
is not present or does not exist.
It does not matter that many books, such as the bible and many others,
discuss other dimensions of reality.
Most people, however, just cannot believe it until, perhaps, they have a
Òspiritual experienceÓ, such as seeing an angel or something of that nature.
This
deeply held belief or trance state is slowly changing thanks to electronic
devices such as cell phones that clearly show that there are worlds that are
invisible, yet very real.
¯ Only
earth is inhabited. People are taught and conditioned from
birth to think that the earth is the only planet that contains advanced human
life. Other planets, one is
taught, might have bacteria or other primitive life forms upon it, but that is
all. This is patently false, but
is promoted and taught because it protects the leaders from competition and it
keeps the population from demanding and expecting more from their leaders.
My
own research and that of many others suggests that hundreds of planets have
more advanced civilizations that could help the earth and her people, if only
people were willing to accept the idea of advanced civilizations on other
planets and relax with it.
¯
Veils or imbalances due to what is
called life planning before birth or at a young age.
This is a very complex phenomenon in which the mind is sort-of
programmed very early that some people and events are important for oneself,
while others are not. This is not
strictly a hypnotic situation, although it is totally unconscious, so it has
some of the same qualities of hypnosis.
¯
Other. Families, nations, tribes, and even the entire planet have
subtle conditioning concerning their identities, abilities, intelligence, their
worth, and so forth.
For
example, in the Middle East and other areas as well, women are taught they are
inferior to men and that they are not smart or strong. This becomes a kind of hypnotic
suggestion for these women that is very hard to overcome because it runs so
deeply in the family structure in some of these nations.
This
will conclude this brief discussion of the nature of hypnosis in the general
population. Much more could be
said, but I prefer to concentrate on what to do about your hypnotic trance
states, which are always hard to overcome.
DE-HYPNOSIS
De-hypnosis
means waking up from the hypnotic trances we all live with. I will just touch upon some simple
methods that work most of the time, if one is disciplined and willing to endure
some confusion and ambiguity as the mind is de-conditioned or awakened from its
sleep state.
The
topic of de-hypnosis is critical today on personal, national, political and
social levels. It is the study of
how to make yourself and your nation less subject to tyrants, cults, fake
advertising, fake slogans, fake religions and fake everything that operates and
controls through hypnosis.
Spiritual
development. De-hypnosis is also very important for that
which is called on this website mental or spiritual development. Development is much more than this, but
teaching the mind to think clearly and not to be influenced unduly by othersÕ
words, actions or threats is a key element in the development and evolution of
a human being. Without some
awakening, most people cannot proceed far along the long path to develop their
minds and bodies to their fullest extent.
We
often hear that a wise person is one who can Òhold his groundÓ in an argument
or discussion, for example. He or
she is also one who is not easily threatened, who has courage, and who can see
clearly through false arguments to remain with truth. These are evidences of a non-hypnotized or more alive and
more awake human being.
HOW TO DE-HYPNOTIZE
Many
methods can be of help. I will
just name a few that are simple, and are part of nutritional balancing science.
Seek
to know THE TRUTH and to hold fast to it. Always seeking the truth about all
things, of itself, has a way of waking a person up. The truth may not be pleasant, but if one can hear it and
hold fast to it, it has a protective effect against all post-hypnotic suggestions
and against hypnosis, itself.
One
of the most wicked tricks of the professional hypnotists, cult leaders and
brainwashers is to teach the young people today that there is no such thing as
the truth. This is called moral relativism. Instead, they teach that Òyou have your
truth and I have mineÓ. This is
complete nonsense, but is taught on almost every college campus today and in
most high schools as well. It is
just one reason to teach your children at home, and not send them to public
schools, which are horrendous for any bright mind today. You can often tell when you run into
such a person because they hate books like the bible that teach specific
truths.
Read
the bible. Some parts of
the Hebrew and Christian bibles are designed to wake people up. It certainly wonÕt do the whole job,
but I have observed that those who are steeped in the bible and understand it
are better off than those who have never studied it. Interestingly, the most hypnotized are often those who do
not like the bible, or have been taught that it is false or just an old history
book.
Learn
who and when to trust.
This is a tricky area. It
is said that no one really knows your needs and wants as well as you do. So if something seems amiss, always pay
attention and do not just allow others to talk you out of your own thoughts and
impressions.
On
the other hand, since most people, including most likely you, are somewhat
hypnotized, your impressions and desires can easily be misguided. For this reason, guidance from wise and
mature adults can be essential.
Wise people trust themselves, but they also Òtake counselÓ with others,
because none of us have the whole picture. A serious problem occurs when a person only trusts himself
or herself, or only counsels with those who think exactly the same way as you
do. So be wise and take counsel with the
smartest people you know. If
possible, consult different people so you become well-informed.
Picking
your advisors. This
is not easy. Here are few
tips. Pick people who will be
honest with you, and not the ones who just will say ÒfineÓ to whatever you ask. Also, pick ones that really have your
real best interests at heart, meaning they are willing to lose their friendship
or relationship with you in order to tell you the truth. Few friends qualify for this. Also, pick advisors who are more mature
and perhaps older, though age is no guarantee of wisdom. Finally, try to find advisors who have
a happy and fulfilling life themselves, meaning that they have made good
decisions in their own lives. They
may not understand how they made these decisions, but they have a knack for
making wise decisions.
These
are often not easy qualities to identify, but some reflection will help you to
determine them. Know that those
who are honest and truly care about us are not often the most pleasant ones to
listen to. They are not Òthe glee
clubÓ, there to share your enthusiasm.
They should be more sober, and may seem depressing or even harsh, or
perhaps just no fun.
Be
careful about listening to family members or friends who have hidden agendas,
usually conditioned by their own hypnotic trances. For example, a friend or family member might want you to
take a certain job because you will have the weekends free to go out together. This consideration is okay, but not
totally honest because the friend is looking out for themselves, at some level,
rather than what is completely right for you. This is another large subject that has to do with guidance, the subject of other articles
on this website.
As
you become healthier with nutritional balancing science, your inner guidance
will improve. Until that time,
however, be careful about just listening to your Òinner guidanceÓ. Also, be very careful about listening
to psychics, counselors, psychologists, ÒfriendsÓ. Also, watch out for New Age methods
like using Ouija Boards, pendulums, The I Ching,
Tarot or other cards, Runes, numerology, astrology and such methods. Too often, these sources are not clear,
and can be influenced in deep and harmful ways that you are not aware of at
all.
De-hypnotize
by learning specific facts or knowledge. For example, knowledge of a situation
such as buying a house or a car, will protect the buyer from a lot of slick
sales talk.
Many
articles on this website that may seem unusual are there to teach knowledge
that can help protect one from subliminal and/or post-hypnotic suggestions.
For
example, women need to understand menÕs hormones and how they affect behavior
and thinking. This can help
protect women from some slick sexual salesmen. Likewise, men need to understand how angry many women are,
and how to protect themselves from this sad problem of some women.
This
article will help protect some readers just because it contains knowledge about
hypnosis and brainwashing, and how it is done secretly. Recalling what is written here might
thus be lifesaving in certain situations if, for instance, you suddenly realize
that someone is using the techniques described above on you. By suddenly realizing what is going on,
you do not need to listen further or go along.
De-hypnosis
requires an open mind and critical, logical thinking. Having an open and receptive
consciousness is needed to really check out situations and people from many
points of view. Otherwise one can
be trapped by appealing phrases or hearing ideas that one likes.
Critical
and purely logical or deductive thinking help one to question and look for Òred
flagsÓ and other details that one must notice when dealing with many
situations. This is another way to
stop the liars and manipulators in our midst.
Inquisitiveness,
patience, peace and a healthy skepticism. These are other qualities of mind that
help one to sort through a situation to discern the truth. Ask a lot of questions.
Dating. If someone wants to go on a date with
you, donÕt hesitate to ask a load of questions first. And never, ever go somewhere alone with a person you do not
know. Meet for tea or coffee in a
public place the first few dates and that is all. I know this sounds very paranoid, one might say. However, it might save your life if you
are a woman. If you are a man,
realize that many lovely women are scared of date rape because it may have
happened to them, or they know someone to whom it happened. So go along and do not be in a hurry to
get to know someone.
Self-knowledge
of your personal areas of strengths and weaknesses. This is extremely helpful, especially
oneÕs weak spots. For instance, if
a woman knows that she just melts when someone praises her beautiful hair, she
needs to exercise extra caution whenever someone wants something of her and
starts praising her hair. While a
trite example, this is a common type of weakness for some women that is often
exploited by manipulators.
For
another person, a weak area might be calculating numbers, for example. This can cause a persoon
to buy too much that they cannot really afford.
Any
area in which you are weak can be exploited more easily by those who seek to
implant post-hypnotic suggestions.
Whatever the weak area is, be extra careful in these areas, move slower,
consult others who do not have that weak area, and back away if you feel you
are becoming confused.
Of
course, another solution when you identify weak areas is to fix the
problem. Take a math course if you
do not like numbers. Or just play
with numbers with a friend who is good at it until you are not afraid of them
anymore. In other words, take
other action so that the weak area will not hamper your life. Self-knowledge is always helpful to
deal with manipulators, seducers, advertisers, salesmen and post-hypnotic
suggestions.
This
leads us to a method to greatly enhance self-awareness and self-knowledge.
THE ROY MASTERS MEDITATION EXERCISE
Mr.
Roy Masters claims that his meditation is the Òanti-hypnosisÓ. I agree, in part. However, I believe you also need to
combine it with a nutritional balancing program to strengthen the mind and the
body, and maybe other techniques to completely de-hypnotize yourself. Otherwise your brain may remain too
foggy because it is filled with toxic metals and chemicals, for example. The mental qualities and good habits
discussed in the paragraphs above are also needed or at least helpful, for
instance.
To
really wake up from our light hypnotic trance states, I believe people need to
know the truth, and to be able to reason through every argument against it and
still be able to hold on to it.
This takes more than a simple meditation exercise.
However,
I agree fully with Mr. Masters that his particular exercise, and
not many others, is very helpful for the following reasons:
¯ Calming and slowing the thoughts.
Most peopleÕs minds are racing from one thought to another without
stopping. The meditation practice
he teaches is fabulous to gently and firmly slow the mind so that thoughts can
be traced and moved about with ease to clearly reveal their source and their
conclusions.
¯ Relaxing.
The exercise relaxes the body and mind, and this also assists one to think and
discern better.
¯
Grounding and centering.
This is another advantage of this particular exercise. Grounding means moving energy in a downward
direction. This slowly and
subtly balances the body, opens the energy centers, and can help connect a
person with inner guidance. This
is a major reasons this exercise is recommended instead of other meditation
practices.
Centering
means that the movement of the consciousness tends to occur within the confines
of the physical body. Most
peopleÕs attention is often outside of their physical body, particularly in
children and women. It is one
reason that women, in general, are less selfish and care more than some men
about relationships, an area that is outside of the physical body and in
between people. However, having
oneÕs attention outside the bounds of the physical body can put one less in
touch with some feelings from the body and also colors oneÕs thinking.
Psychologists
often speak of this as having weak or confused boundaries of the self or
ego. Alcoholic families, for
example, are known for this problem, which is also called enmeshment and the tendency for enabling rather than relating to
others from a centered and grounded place. The Roy Masters exercise helps one center and ground, and
this clarifies the boundaries like nothing else we have seen.
To
dehypnotize, heal the physical body.
Nutritional balancing science has opened many peopleÕs eyes to the
realities of the world. This is
the result of enhancing oneÕs adaptive energy or vitality, and renourishing and removing toxins from the brain to enhance
the brainÕs processing speed and ability, memory, mental clarity, focus,
concentration ability, and more.
We often hear comments such as Òthis program opened my eyesÓ about some
area of the personÕs life that was unclear.
Nutritional
balancing, by enhancing vitality and mental faculties, can even undo traumas of
all types that are closely tied to the original hypnotic trance state.
Other
subtle benefits include better self-esteem that comes with better health, more
hopefulness, which we hear often from clients, and a sense of oneÕs ability to
survive and thrive in the world. Clients who stay on a nutritional
balancing program for at least a few months to a year commonly report these
kinds of mental improvements, many of which go far beyond simple nutritional
correction of body chemistry.
Other
methods. Many other
methods can help one to de-hypnotize.
In fact, any method of healing that strengthens and balances the body
and mind can help. In addition, a
healthful and peaceful environment is always helpful, as are healthful
relationships and work that satisfies a person.
BRAINWASHING, AND ITS RELATION TO HYPNOSIS
A
practical definition. Brainwashing is the systematic, and
usually violent, but not always conscious, distortion or conditioning of the
mind of another person for selfish or other harmful purposes using operant
conditioning. I will just
introduce this large topic. It is
not the same as hypnosis, as explained later in this article.
PRINCIPLES OF BRAINWASHING
1.
Brainwashing requires an operator and
a victim.
The operator is an authority figure or the person in charge of the
situation. The operator must act
in certain ways upon the victim, who by definition is not in control and not in
authority.
In
other words, brainwashing cannot occur between two equal in power. If they are equal, then brainwashing
will only occur if one of the people convinces the other that he or she is a
victim and must do as the first person directs.
This
means if you can stop being a victim, brainwashing often stops working. It is a key to avoiding brainwashing,
though it is often done so subtly that one hardly realized it.
2.
It is helpful, though perhaps not always necessary, that the victim be unaware
of the process of brainwashing.
In other words, it is harder, but certainly not impossible, to brainwash
someone who knows what you are trying to do. This is why soldiers are often trained in brainwashing
tactics, so at least when they are captured and forced to do odd things they
will know why it is so and it may help them resist, though certainly not always.
I
have read, for example, that all American soldiers are forced to undergo
torture to train them what it is like to be brainwashed. The hope is that it will help them
learn to handle it better and avoid their giving in too easily.
3.
The first step in brainwashing is the operator applies pain or stress against
the victim. This may go on for a
few minutes or up to a few years. The
word pain or stress can be of many types, such as:
¯
Actual physical violence or pain.
This is used in cults, prisons, rapes, and other common situations. Torture is Òstandard practiceÓ in some
nations if a person is arrested, for example, and the captors need a confession
or are just in the mood for some fun with the victim. Methods include to starve a person, freeze a person, deprive
a person of sleep or water, force a person to eat feces or dirt or pieces of
glass, remove their clothing and beat the person, defecate or urinate on a
person, let rats or mosquitos bite the person, apply
electrical shocks to the body, pull the limbs or other parts of the body off,
burn the person with matches or a soldering iron, especially in the private
parts, hang a person upside down naked, shoot off guns right near a person, inflict
wounds, shine lights in the eyes, or other tortures.
¯
Emotional violence or pain.
This includes just stripping a personÕs clothing off and staring or
photographing the person, yelling at a person who is held captive, spitting, insulting,
humiliating or just confusing another person. These methods are also used commonly in some cults.
¯ Mental torture, which involves threats,
intimidation, confusion, embarrassment, deception and/or lying. This may not seem as violent as beating
or raping a person, but it can be every bit as bad in
some ways. For example, parents
often lie to their children and their spouses, teachers lie,
confuse and embarrass students with odd requests and punishments, corrupt politicians
routinely lie with a smile while secretly oppressing the people, and salesmen
and advertisers often lie or tell half truths to their customers. It can be done with words, body
language, body size, and other subtle means.
4.
Applying the stress of torture reduces the victimÕs adaptive energy or vitality
level. This is a key to all successful brainwashing. In
other words, for the torture to be effective, it must upset a personÕs life at
deeper levels, not just a superficial level. To resist brain washing, by the way, is to keep the torture
at a superficial level so the mind stays focused and functioning well.
5.
At the same time, it is important that the operator reassures the victim that
all is well, the person is acting normally, donÕt worry about anything, and
similar ideas. This is all a lie,
of course, and it further confuses the victim. But it is helpful so the person will not suspect what is
really going on – namely, the slow destruction of the mind and perhaps
the body.
6.
At some point, a reversal takes place in the mind of the victim. This is the real key to
brainwashing. In order to better
endure or relieve the pain or stress, the victim decides it is not worth
fighting the operator. This
is a crucial step in all brainwashing.
This point is usually reached early in the process, but it could take a
few years to occur depending on the person involved and the type of torture.
For
example, in school situations, it usually takes the public school system about
five years (about fifth grade) before a bright, loving child is turned into a
little parrot who does only what the teacher wants, does not think creatively,
and becomes scared or ashamed of thinking differently than the operators,
teachers and administrators want them to.
The
Stockholm Syndrome. This reversal is sometimes called the Stockholm Syndrome. It is named after a kidnapping occurred
in Stockholm, Sweden. A young
woman who was taken captive, and beaten and starved, to everyoneÕs surprise suddenly
began to side with her captors against the police.
What
happens is that to relieve the stress, the victim starts to believe that the
operator is his or her friend, instead of an enemy. This, of course, is not true. But it is a way of coping with the stress and pain that the
operator inflicts on the victim.
In
most cases, this step or alteration of consciousness is totally unconscious,
meaning the victim does not realize that the switch or change has taken
place. In fact, if he or she does realize it, brainwashing will often
be less successful.
7.
Once the alteration known as the Stockholm Syndrome has taken place, the
operator moves on to imprint new ideas in the head of the victim, who is now
more ÒcooperativeÓ.
8.
The operator then uses operant
conditioning methods to implant new ideas or new behaviors in the
victim. Operant
conditioning is a blend of fear, shock, punishments and rewards that are timed
and intertwined in certain ways to upset, further unground,
and alter the mind of the victim, and at the same time to hide the real process
so the victims remains unaware.
Basically,
the operator inflicts pain or suffering when the victim opposes or rejects the
new ideas, while rewarding the victim when new behavior or ideas are
accepted. In other words, a series
of rewards and punishments are timed properly to reward some behavior and
discourage other behaviors.
There
is much more to operant conditioning, in which the operator can associate or
pair certain rewards and punishment with certain behaviors in more complex
ways, but this is the general strategy.
9.
Effective, brainwashing always involves lots of testing and often ways to
reinforce the brainwashing or hypnosis.
The operator must continually check to see if the new ideas
are taking hold. Testing in
school, for example, may achieve this goal. It is not just the facts that need to be tested, but also
the willingness of the victim to participate and accept the testing
process. Obviously, if the victim
is not learning well, or not accepting the process of brain washing too well,
then the tactics must be altered to correct the problem.
Deepening
the brainwashing is done by repeating the punishment and reward sequences
whenever the operator thinks it is helpful.
10.
Part of brainwashing is to associate pain and torture with questioning the Ònew
ideasÓ that the operator has implanted.
This way, the brainwashing tends to carry through for the rest of the
victimÕs life. This
means that at any time later in life, if the victim opposes or even just
questions his or her brainwashing, intense pain or anxiety suddenly arise from
out of nowhere. Since most people
do not understand brainwashing, at this point most people will stop their
opposition and fall back into their conditioned behavior. This, of course, is
the objective of the brainwashing process. It means the operator has achieved control over the mind of
the victim not just temporarily, but for life.
These
are some essential principles and basic steps for simple brainwashing. Those who are trained in it can do it
quickly in many cases, especially if a person is weak-willed, confused, or
younger in most cases. However,
most people are easy to manipulate if one knows how to do it.
COMMON EXAMPLES OF BRAINWASHING
Prisoners. In a prison setting, one person has all
the power and often a lethal weapon, while the other person is locked up and
perhaps starving. Brainwashing is
very easy under these conditions.
Juries. Some attorneys and
even judges are quite adept at manipulating the minds of the jurors. The way this is done is:
1)
The attorney disqualifies and gets rid of all prospective jurors who seem to
have a mind of their own and would be uncooperative
2)
Specific words, phrases and actions are used during the trial to condition the
jurors
3)
During the closing arguments, just before the jury goes in to deliberate the
case, the attorney will return to his cue words or themes to reinforce the
brainwashing he has hopefully done on the jury.
4)
Later, when the jury is deliberating behind closed
doors, some jurors may find, for instance, that they just cannot return a
guilty verdict because it makes them strangely uncomfortable, even if the facts
are clear. They do not realize
they have been conditioned or brainwashed during the trial by a skillful
defense lawyer who has, with his voice, or his look, or something else,
associated stress or pain with a verdict of guilty.
5)
Skillful attorneys and even judges can even sometimes hypnotize and brainwash
witnesses, policemen, and others involved in the case by planting false
evidence and hundreds of other tactics.
This
fine art is practiced all of the time by slick attorneys and even some judges. To prevent it, the practice of allowing
attorneys to throw out jurors they donÕt like must be stopped immediately. It is often the only safeguard. Televising the trial is helpful, too,
as the attorneys may be caught in the act so they may tone down their rhetoric.
Bureaucrats
and bosses. These people
can often condition employees or those under them using standard brainwashing
methods. Here no one is locked up
or facing starvation. However, the
victim is the one who wants to keep his or her job, so the bureaucrat can often
easily employ a reward and punishment system to control the lower level
personÕs behavior. It can be as
simple as giving promotions to those who ÒcooperateÓ, or it can involve subtle
intimidation, threats of censure, giving the best assignments to those who
cooperate, and so on.
Companies
and especially bureaucrats also often do this to their clients or customers. An important advantage of a capitalist
economy over a socialist, bureaucratic economy is that the customer has more
choices. This way, if a customer
feels he has been treated badly, he simply patronizes someone else. This tends to greatly reduce the power
of the bosses and companies to mistreat clients. In socialist nations, the people have no other choice than
the government health care, welfare, food stamp program and so on, so abuse is
rampant.
Revesral. Now and then, the underlings,
employees, or customers learn how to brainwash the boss or the leader, with
skillful use of the same techniques. This is much less common. An entertaining movie about this situation was Nine To Five that starred Dolly Parten.
Parents
and Children. Children are
very dependent upon their parents, so they make easy targets of brainwashing. In fact, some of the worst hypnosis and
brainwashing occurs in families.
It varies in severity and might just be simple conditioning of the child
to act or speak in certain ways.
Too often, it is far worse and involves beating, humiliating,
embarrassing, and raping children at a young age. This is especially the case in Russia and the Middle Eastern
nations.
At
times, clever children turn the tables and effectively train their parents to
do exactly as they child wishes by throwing temper tantrums and other
tactics. Such children often have
a hard time as adults because adults are harder to manipulate using temper
tantrums.
Students.
Grading, special favors, put-downs and other methods are used in most schools
to punish and reward certain behaviors and ideas. The horrendous effects often last a lifetime.
Millions
learn in school, for example, that they are inferior, stupid, incompetent,
untalented, uncoordinated, ugly and failures thanks to careless or intentional
brainwashing by teachers who are usually themselves brainwashed.
Students
also learn not to be creative, not to question authority, not to do things
differently from the accepted way, and so on in most schools today. Secretly, they fear punishment and
humiliation that occurred when they were in school years before. That is how effective the ÒtrainingÓ is
in most schools.
This
is why some people never learn much as adults. Schooling has been associated with pain and suffering. This syndrome affects millions around
the world and stunts their intellectual growth. It is why home schooling and learning from computers, while
perhaps unorthodox, is often much better.
At
the professional level, this problem commonly causes doctors, attorneys,
counselors and others to develop a narrow-minded, and often cynical outlook and
a stern resistance to learning new ideas and new techniques such as nutritional
balancing science.
Doctors. Doctors often brainwash their
patients. The patient (note the
word patient) is at a great disadvantage because he or she is often in pain,
frightened, does not understand illness, and does not understand medical lingo
that is designed to sound mystical and complex. Why else call joint pain ÒarthritisÓ, or call heartburn ÒGERDÓ (gastric esophageal reflux disease)?
Many
doctors take advantage of this to reward patients who ÒcomplyÓ and punish those
who ask too many questions or who do not follow orders.
A
few patients know how to manipulate their doctor to get more drugs or more
operations. So it can work both
ways, but usually the patients lose.
Politicians.
Politicians routinely brainwash their constituents. They do this by acting in confusing and conflicting ways to
create stress. Then they reward
those who vote for them with money or other perks such as construction
contracts. Politicians such as
Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Mao Tze Tung were
masters at using violence, threats of violence, well-chosen words, and rewards
for the loyal ones to control huge numbers of people in really quite amazing
ways.
Men
and women. Brainwashing occurs all the time in the sexual and
relationship areas. A separate
section below discusses sexual aspects of brainwashing.
Even
pets can brainwash their masters. While primitive, the animals devise
crude means of rewarding or punishing the owner of the animal so the animal can
get what it wants when it wants it.
Pet
owners often think it is ÒcuteÓ and go along, just as many people think that a
childÕs temper tantrums are sort of cute.
Sadly, some women think that a man who begs, pleads, threatens and even
perhaps rapes her is somehow ÒcuteÓ and endearing because he Òreally loves
herÓ. This is rather depraved, but
one hears it from time to time.
REGULAR LEARNING AND TRAINING VERSUS BRAINWASHING
Sometimes
these become confused. Here are a
few of the main differences:
¯ Learning
and training are done with the full consent of the person. Brainwashing always has either an
obvious violent component or a hidden agenda component to it.
¯ Learning
and training are often done by equals.
This means there is no operator and there is no victim. Instead, two people come together to
simply exchange information and experiences in a way that one instructs the
other. Brainwashing is always at
least an attempt to control and manipulate another who one believes is inferior
or less powerful.
¯
Brainwashing
always involves a negative, nefarious or evil process.
¯
Training
and teaching another person can involve controlling the student, such as
teaching a person how to fly an airplane with the teacher at the backup
controls. However, with training
the control over another is for good purposes, whereas brainwashing always
involves degrading another.
For
example, soldiers are trained to take orders. However, this is presumably to help save their lives, not to
degrade them and hurt them.
¯
Brainwashing
always involves inflicting pain and damaging another. This is, of course, not the case with learning.
¯
Brainwashing
always involves operant conditioning to instill ideas in another person so they
will be recalled at a later time.
Learning and training may or may not use operant conditioning.
¯
Learning
and training are usually designed to open, expand and strengthen the mind. Brainwashing is always a process and an
attempt that seeks to close, diminish and ruin a personÕs mind.
¯
Learning
often results in improved self-confidence and a higher vitality level. Brainwashing can seem to improve
self-confidence, but in fact always results in damaged self-confidence and a
lower vitality level. Indeed,
raising the vitality through nutritional balancing science is often a necessary
key to breaking free of brainwashing.
WELFARE STATES AND BRAINWASHING
Roy
Masters rightly points out that the same brainwashing methods used in prison
camps are used by authority figures throughout modern society. For example, one may rightly say that
the hidden goal of all welfare states is to make the people dependent upon
government handouts so that the political class can control them and therefore
brainwash them much easier and more thoroughly. In contrast, brainwashing citizens who have money,
Constitutional rights, guns, and political power is far more difficult.
For
this reason, when the state-run Soviet Union collapsed in 1989, the people had
a terrible time thinking for themselves, and they still are having a problem
some 20 years later. They were
used to lies and deception from the government, and had grown hardened to the
brainwashing tactics that are commonly used in all closed or tightly controlled
society. This is a great hidden
benefit of a capitalist, free market, laissez faire type of society that
offsets some of its problems.
It
people are generally far more healthy, vital and happy. Brainwashing still occurs in the more capitalist
societies, but the political class has a much harder time doing it so it
happens much less. This is also
one reason why a free and competitive press, freedom
of speech and assembly, freedom of religion, freedom to travel and free access
to the internet are critical in society today.
THE EFFECTS OF BRAINWASHING AND HYPNOSIS UPON THE POPULATION
Brainwashing
always:
1.
Lowers peopleÕs vitality level.
2.
Stunts mental development, learning ability and creativity.
3.
Reduces self esteem and self-confidence.
4.
Causes incompetence, nervousness, irritability and fearfulness.
5.
Ruins families and relationships.
6.
Depletes a person nutritionally in almost all cases.
7.
Seriously damages a personÕs ability to cope with stress for all the reasons
above and others.
8.
Leads to chronic anger, depression, cancer, diabetes and hundreds of other
diseases and disasters for people and society.
9.
Many attempt suicide, and some attempt to kill or harm others whom they blame
for the problem.
ADD,
ADHD and Autism.
One sad group in whom this is happening today are bright children. Many become labeled ADD and ADHD, and
even autistic. Some turn into
rebels and delinquents, and many are depressed. Rarely, one picks up a gun and often targets the school
where the brain washing took place.
The child only understands that something went wrong in that
school. Preventing such events,
and helping children to retain their natural curiosity, intelligence and
initiative is one of the main purposes of talking about this difficult subject
of brainwashing and hypnosis.
Attractive
young women. This group is
also disproportionately affected by sexual brainwashing, rape, intimidation,
threats, seduction, hypnosis and other horrors. It is as if society has a prejudice against these often
lovely women because they are attractive.
It often begins in the family with emotional abuse, inappropriate
touching or even rape or incest. The
women are made to feel ugly, dirty, stupid and worthless. This affects all of society indirectly.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HYPNOSIS AND BRAINWASHING
These
include:
1.
Brainwashing always involves operant conditioning methods, while hypnosis may
not. Hypnosis
involves relaxation first, which is the opposite of the stress of
brainwashing. Then it involves
altering the deeper mind or Òoperating systemÓ of a person in some way.
2.
Brainwashing is more superficial than hypnosis. The latter usually depends upon very early childhood
experiences, including even experiences in the womb. Brainwashing may use early childhood
experiences to inflict pain, but the method is not dependent upon early
childhood experiences.
3.
Hypnosis does not need to be coupled with punishments or rewards to be
effective or remain viable.
Brainwashing is always associated with stress and pain.
4.
Hypnosis and brainwashing often work better on different kinds of people. For example, a person who has been
abused as a child is a better subject for brainwashing, but not necessarily
hypnosis. This is because the
person has experienced pain and is usually running from it. The threat or infliction of more pain
is a more powerful motivator for such a person. This is why cults, at times,
attract people who have been abused more as children.
Immature
and unthinking people make better hypnotic subjects because they are just not
thinking about things very much, so it is easier to relax them and get inside
their heads, so to speak.
5.
Hypnosis is often a much faster process. A post-hypnotic suggestion can be
implanted in a 30-second TV commercial, for instance. Brainwashing, in contrast, usually takes more time than
this, and sometimes takes months or even a few years.
6.
Post-hypnotic suggestions often affect the emotional level of the brain, while
brainwashing is more about the intellectual level. This is not wholly the case, but is
generally so.
PHOBIAS AND FEARS VERSUS BRAINWASHING
Fears
and phobias are simply conditioned or reflexive responses to various
stimuli. They may be a result of
brainwashing, but may be due to many causes. Phobias often occur accidentally, for example. If a child, for example, is bitten by a
dog at a young age, the child might grow up terrified of dogs. This is a type of conditioning, but it
is not due to classical operant conditioning methods, as described above. The child may, indeed, be ÒbrainwashedÓ
to be terrified of dogs, but it was accidental.
Brainwashing,
as usually understood, is a very deliberate and precise process of altering or
conditioning another personÕs mind, in most cases, even if it is done
unconsciously by a parent or teacher, for example.
UNCONSCIOUS BRAINWASHING
Parents,
in particular, but also teachers, doctors, politicians and anyone in authority
will often unconsciously use operant conditioning upon their ÒvictimsÓ or
charges.
I
found in medical school, for example, that insane teaching methods are still
used, although they make little sense.
For example, students and interns were made to work 24-hour shifts or
even 36-hour shifts. This makes
little sense as a way to provide excellent patient care, but the practice goes
on anyway. When I would ask why,
often the answer was that the senior staff member had to do it, so I must do
it, too. However, I later figured
out that working a very long shift or doing menial tasks in school are ways
that stress is applied to students for brainwashing purposes, even if it is
done unconsciously or somewhat so.
Parents
and teachers do this to children on a regular basis as well, though not usually
in such an extreme way. The child
asks a question and instead of thinking through a logical answer, the parent or
even a teacher will respond by saying Òbecause I said soÓ. Another common answer is Òthis is how
we do things around hereÓ, or Òjust keep quiet and do as I tell youÓ.
All
of these non-answers inflict pain upon childrenÕs delicate minds. When the child goes along, he is
rewarded by the parent or teacher.
However, if the child objects, the ÒpunishmentÓ gets worse until the
child capitulates. This is how a
lot of children lose their center, lose their grounding, and lose their common
sense by the age of 10 or even younger in some cases. Then we wonder why people do not question authority and
cannot think clearly about issues that concern their lives.
The
sad situaion in the schools. Sadly, the unconscious or
semi-conscious brainwashing in public schools often gets worse, with silly
rules in school that mean little to the child, and a process of forcing certain
knowledge upon children in an order or sequence that makes little sense. The child is given no choice in the
matter, and pain is coupled with objecting to Òthe systemÓ. This is why education around the world
is not working well. A separate
article on this website addresses this topic in more detail called What Is Wrong With The School System?.
COPING WITH WIDESPREAD OPERANT CONDITIONING OF OUR CHILDREN AND
OURSELVES
All
of those reading this article have been subjected to at least some brainwashing
as children. Some of it is quite
inevitable, even in the best of homes.
It is rare to find a parent who refuses to use punishment and reward to
control a childÕs behavior.
Parents who were treated this way generally just repeat the behavior
unconsciously, or semiconsciously.
The
only alternative to this is to sit and confront a child with facts, reasons and
so on each time something is asked of the child. This is ideal, but is not common. As a result, almost all of us are somewhat conditioned in
this way.
The
hope for our children and the next generations therefore lies in our ability to
undo or reverse our own conditioning so that we do not unconsciously pass it on
to the next generations, reducing their vitality and joy, and continuing the
vicious cycle of unconscious or conscious brainwashing.
HOW TO BREAK FREE OF BRAINWASHING
Step
1. Awareness of the problem. A
first step, and the purpose of this article, is to become aware that operant
conditioning has been used upon you.
This is often the most painful and important recognition. In other words, your mind, with its
emotions and thoughts, is not exactly your own, though it appears that
way. Rather it has been conditioned
or used by others.
Allowing
yourself to understand that you have been conditioned, however, can be a great
relief. It can help you understand
why you are not happy, at times, why you may feel lonely, depressed, alienated
and unsure of yourself. It can
help you to understand why some activities, people or situations cause unusual
stress or pain for you. This can
be anything, such as money, schooling, a job, or interacting with the opposite
sex.
You
must allow yourself to realize that your mind is not your own and that it has
indeed been damaged, somewhat like a computer that is not working quite
right. You may have thought the
computer was okay, but that was just because the authority figures who
brainwashed you told you so. In
fact, this is a key ingredient in brain washing procedures. Part of the conditioning process can be
to convince the victim that he or she is, in fact, normal or sane, when this is
not the truth.
Step
2. Begin to challenge the brainwashing by reading new ideas. Once the awareness
is clear that you are conditioned, begin to focus on restoring your mind by
ridding it of its false ideas and conditioning. It is not that important, usually, that you know just how you
were conditioned. It is much more important
to expose the lies you were taught and release them.
The
essential procedure at this stage is to entertain new thoughts and attitudes
that will necessarily conflict with the conditioned ideas. You do this by reading this article,
for instance, and perhaps others on this website. By learning new things, it will help bring perspective and
this, in turn, makes it easier to challenge long-held beliefs that may be false,
and to move forward with your healing.
Step
3. Know that anxiety, shame, and other unpleasant feelings or thoughts will
arise when you challenge you programming or conditioning. The trick is not to be swayed and to
keep moving through the anxiety or pain that arises. This is the most difficult and most
important key to success in de-brainwashing yourself.
Reading
new ideas that challenge your programming will cause intense anxiety or pain
that is designed to stop you from continuing the de-programming process. The anxiety is designed to hold you in
your brainwashed state. Therefore,
it is essential to put up with the fear or anxiety, which is temporary, in
order to break free.
Always use your tools, gimmicks and
other methods to keep you going forward with deprogramming. Any therapies or procedures that might
help you do this are good. Specific
therapies that may help include:
¯
Nutritional
balancing science. Balancing, nourishing, resting and rebuilding
the body using this science, and not other nutritional methods, is extremely
powerful to de-program you.
Besides
increasing the adaptive energy or vitality level, can will help strengthen your
will, improve your memory, speed up your brainÕs ability to think and process,
calm the nervous system and much more.
¯ The procedures – near infrared light sauna therapy, daily
coffee enemas and the Roy Masters meditation with my modification. These are part of all nutritional
balancing programs. However, I
mention them separately as they can be so very helpful. Do not hesitate to do more of them if
you are feeling anxious, irritable, or otherwise out of sorts. The sauna, in particular, is extremely
calming.
¯
Foot and hand reflexology. This is also recommended as part of all
nutritional balancing programs, along with simple yoga twists to adjust the
spine and relax the body. More
yoga than this is not recommended, however. Read the article entitled Yoga to
learn why not. Foot reflexology,
especially, can help greatly by smoothing and balancing the channel system of
the body. I suggest using it daily
or even twice daily, especially if you are feeling very anxious or upset.
¯
Strengthening the will. To de-program and re-program yourself may require
strengthening the will. You will
need the will to keep on moving through the anxiety and perhaps even some
physical or emotional pain that is bound to occur during the de-conditioning
process. Following a nutritional
balancing program will help, as will other daily routines such as meditating,
taking a short walk and other routines.
¯
Applying a counter-stress. A technique that is somewhat dangerous, but is used by some
therapists, is to apply a counter-stress or counter-trauma to a person. This might take a verbal form, or even
a physical action that forces the client to face his conditioning or
brainwashing. One such method is
called psychodrama, in which the person is encouraged to act out a painful
scene from the past. By moving the
body in certain ways and pronouncing the words just as they were said years
before when a trauma or brainwashing occurred, the person may be helped to get
in touch with the deeper aspects of the trauma in a non-threatening way. Then one can Òredo the sceneÓ,
ÒreframeÓ and replay the situation with a more favorable outcome.
Such
methods, however, are somewhat dangerous as they can also reprogram and
strengthen the conditioning if they are not handled properly. It takes a skilled therapist to apply
the proper counter-stress, so exercise care if you use this method.
¯
Religious conversion as a
counter-stress. Milder forms of counter-stress therapy
include religious conversion such as giving your life to God or Jesus. This, one can say, is a type of
surrender or giving in, just as was the original trauma or shock. However, one gives oneÕs life over to a
benign master instead of to the evil operator of a brainwashing scheme.
The
benign master, usually Jesus, then Òtakes your sinsÓ and guides you to a safer,
saner life. This is one way to
understand the sometimes amazing healings that occur in churches and at revival
meetings.
Is religious conversion just another form
of brainwashing? Some people
accuse the Christian church or others of brainwashing its members with these
techniques. This is an interesting
critique. It might have some merit
in some cases. However, the
concept of undoing brainwashing and trauma by applying the counter-stress of
turning oneÕs life over to Jesus is usually a positive way of dealing with
often deep and entrenched conditioning.
I
am not sure it is brainwashing as much as it is a counter-stress that is used
to free a person from old conditioning.
It is true that after such an experience, one often talks about it in
ways that might make someone suspicious that a new brainwashing has
occurred. However, instead of
closing the mind and heart, it tends to open the mind and the heart, so I would
not consider it brainwashing.
Satanic and other cults. However, joining some groups that
promise to be a counter-stress to society can cause a deepening of a personÕs
already hypnotized and conditioned mind.
Thus, before joining a religious or other group, or giving over oneÕs
life to any group or process, one should investigate rationally exactly who and
what is involved.
¯
Body work. While usually not needed, deep body work
such as Rolfing, emotional release
work or even deep massage can be helpful to break free of brainwashing because
operant conditioning often moves a person out of touch with the body. Also, touching specific places on a
personÕs body can trigger old memories.
Bodywork in some cases also helps one feel loved and attended to, and of
itself may bring up traumas to be released.
¯
Addictions,
brainwashing and 12-step programs.
Addictions are often a result of brainwashing. Instead of facing the ugly truth about oneself – that
one is not in control of oneÕs mind – many turn to alcohol, drugs,
gambling or other distractions to deny the truth.
The
basic idea in the 12-step programs is to expose the programming as much as
possible, facing it head on with the support of others who are doing the same
thing. This is a grerat help for thousands of people to move through the
anxiety that always occurs when one challenges oneÕs operant conditioning from
the past. This is probably why the
12-step programs are a a very successful formula for
many people.
A
strong personality is required to break free of brainwashing. Usually, only the
strong in society are willing to put up with the anxiety and other unpleasant
feelings that occur when one challenges oneÕs childhood programming. These individuals are often our heroes
who hopefully become wise leaders to help others break free of their early
brainwashing.
Those
who resist brainwashing. In
times past, those who did not succumb easily to programming by their parents,
teachers and others were frequently beaten or even murdered as rebels, witches,
and religious zealots. Today, such
people are still sometimes booted out of schools, fired from jobs, and defamed
in many ways, even though they often harm no one. They just express their feelings and donÕt follow the
crowd. Some would call them
Òpolitically incorrectÓ.
Real
freedom of thought and initiative, while given lip service, is still not well
accepted in modern human societies.
Traditional societies are usually the worst offenders in this regard,
but the principle applies everywhere.
INVOKING THE FATHER ENERGY AS A METHOD OF DE-HYPNOSIS AND
DE-BRAINWASHING
This
may seem like a strange topic, but the Christian concept of the trinity,
particularly the father energy, is helpful to remove some brainwashing. One of the roles of a strong father is to
protect the children from evils of all kinds. The father energy on planet earth is real. This energy is a more yang type of
love, of the type Jesus displayed, as well as figures like Moses and Abraham in
the Old Testament of the bible.
One can invoke and pray to this energy and one may well receive help in
perhaps unexpected ways.
HUMANS ARE NOT SOLELY IN CHARGE OF THEIR BRAINS AND DESTINIES
Roy
Masters says that human beings are like newer drone aircraft, or an empty
freight car. One must be pulled
and controlled by some force. In
other words, no one, he says, is really in control of himself. The only choice is to decide who or
what will be your master. The
bible states this idea as Òno man can serve two mastersÓ. The father
energy is a master that is benign and that tends to undo many of the eddy
currents that are set up by hypnotic suggestions and brainwashing. It is therefore very helpful for many
people.
SEXUAL ASPECTS OF BRAINWASHING IN GENERAL SOCIETY
This
discussion may seem far-fetched, but men and women routinely use classical
brainwashing on each other. The
process is given all sorts of fancy names such as courting, flirting, hooking
up, or finding a mate. However,
much of what goes on is very similar to, if not identical to the steps
described above regarding brainwashing and even implanting post-hypnotic
suggestions. This is an important
cause for divorce and other marital problems.
Men
brainwashing women.
For example, men interested in sex or a relationship often apply stress
to women by repeatedly calling them on the phone, visiting them, sending text
messages or emails, giving them gifts and so forth. Some men can confuse the woman by mixing rewards with
punishments or odd behaviors. For
example, a man might invite the woman out but then embarrass her, hurt her
feelings intentionally, or be rough in a sexual way. Rarely, the man will even try using physical force or
violence. Women often do not
realize that these behaviors are often calculated to upset, confuse and irritate
the woman until she gives in.
At
first, most women resist the advances of such men. But after a time – perhaps weeks, months or even a
year - a funny thing happens. The
woman may surprisingly Òchange her mindÓ and decide that the man is not so bad
after all. She usually has no idea
why this happens, so she goes with it and begins to ÒloveÓ the man more.
What
has occurred is the Stockholm Syndrome.
The lady has experienced a particular type of stress response in which
she reduces her stress by Ôgoing along Ôwith the brainwashing operator, or the
man, in this case.
In
this way, many men get the sex or marriage they want from women who donÕt
realize until years later, or may never understand, why or how it
happened. The woman often ends up
extremely unhappy and depressed without a clue as to why she suddenly Òfell in
loveÓ with this particular man.
Women brainwashing men. Men are not the only ones to use
brainwashing on the opposite sex.
Aggressive or just clever women often figure out how to use a
combination of rewards and punishments to intimidate, upset and therefore alter
the behavior of a man with whom they want marriage or perhaps just a sexual
relationship. Methods used by
women usually include flirting with the body, teasing the man sexually in ways
that frustrate him, disrespecting his intellect or doing other little tricks to
upset his delicate ego, and then rewarding him with sex, sweet gifts or making
his favorite dinner.
Once
again, a system or rewards and punishments is set up that the other person is
barely aware of. To relieve the
stress, the man slowly or perhaps
suddenly finds himself Òloving the womanÓ. He usually does not understand this. One hears men say ÒI canÕt live with
her, but I canÕt live without herÓ.
He is describing the Stockholm Syndrome again, but does not understand
it. Often their dysfunctional
relationship is taught to the children, who are brainwashed and hypnotized by
the somewhat unconscious parents and the cycle goes on.
DOWNWARD MOTION AND BRAINWASHING
An
esoteric understanding of brainwashing and hypnosis is that all brainwashing is
upward movement of etheric energy. All healing and de-hypnotizing and
de-brainwashing is downward motion of this same energy through the human
body. The reasons for this are
quite technical. An article on
this website, Downward Motion And Healing,
explains this interesting subject in more detail.
It
is not by accident that a person who is confused is often said to be Òmixed
upÓ, Òscrewed upÓ, Òmessed upÓ or ÒfuÉ.. upÓ. A person who is relaxed and confident may be described as
Òcalmed downÓ.
These
somewhat slang terms describe a feeling of motion of energy within the body
that many people can feel. The
feelings may relate directly to the effects of brainwashing and hypnosis upon a
person.
VIRTUAL REALITY AND BRAINWASHING
All
brainwashing involves setting up an alternative reality that stresses the
victim. This can be called a
virtual reality because they share some qualities. Both are contrived, and often both are set up with ulterior
motives that are made as invisible or hidden as possible. Also, because both are contrived, both
are easily manipulated by the operator or designer of the reality.
For
example, a simple type of virtual reality occurs whenever one person lies to
another person. This is all that
is meant by a virtual reality.
A
more subtle type of virtual reality occurs in schools. The classroom, as most people know,
often has little to do with the real world. Schools also set up artificial ways to evaluate people such
as odd tests that also have little to do with real world success.
It
is no accident that many brilliant people such as Bill Gates of Microsoft,
Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Buckminster Fuller and hundreds of other
geniuses did poorly in school and often dropped out. I found myself hating college because I could see they
rewarded silly or non-creative behavior, while punishing those who were independent
thinkers who did not happen to go along with the ideas of the professors. I am not so much blaming the schools
and colleges for this. It is just
the fact. Often, neither the
parents, the teachers, nor the administrators realize fully how the schools
create a virtual or fake reality that makes it extremely easy to brainwash the
children with false ideas.
DRUG USE, ALCOHOL AND BRAINWASHING
Drugs
and alcohol open the mind to invasion by discarnate entities and make it much
easier to brainwash a person. In
fact, most brainwashing today that is done by the military, for example,
involves powerful drugs to speed the process.
The effects of drugs. These vary, of course, depending upon
the drug used. However, they
include:
á
Dulling
the mind. This is one of
the most important uses of drugs to literally dumb down the person and prevent
rational thought and resistance to the operatorÕs ideas. This can save months of time for the
operator and is less messy than physical torture and other ways to wear down
the victim.
á
Lowering
general vitality through toxicity or other means. This
is another common use of drugs in brainwashing. It is easier than depriving a person of sleep, or beating a
person to reduce his energy or vitality.
á
More specific effects. Some drugs excite the mind, while
others alter perception, cause anxiety, cause horrible sleepiness, and so
on. Drugs such as Haldol, thorazine and others are
commonly used for brainwashing.
These have just been found to help the process, while others are less
helpful.
More
on drugs. The continuous
use of even prescription drugs such as anti-depressants or tranquilizers are
often used by operators to prevent victims from breaking free of
brainwashing. The drugs work by
maintaining a lowered mental acuity level or by depressing the victimÕs mind in
some other way.
Some
drugs, such as LSD, mescaline, Ecstacy or others are
claimed to have the opposite effect - to Òopen Òthe mind or ÒexpandÓ the
mind. However, among friends and
clients that have used these drugs, and some still use them, I have not seen
this happen to any significant degree.
Perhaps they are more open-minded, and this is a slight benefit. However, it is offset by the sometimes
very toxic effects of these drugs on the delicate brain centers. If they are Òbreaking freeÓ of their
brainwashing, it is unbalanced, and quite unhealthy and even dangerous for
them.
Shamans
have used mushroom extracts and other hallucinogenic plants for various reasons
for thousands of years. Here the
situation is different, in that the drug is used in a context of a culture and
civilization that understands the drug thoroughly and has a lot of experience
with it. However, I would warn
everyone against using this method of unwinding or breaking free of brainwashing
since the effects could be erratic and unpredictable with Westerners whose
bodies are different from the native people. This is why I prefer nutritional balancing, a very solid,
safe and perhaps slower method to open the mind and promote spiritual development.
Marijuana
or cannabis. Some claim that
cannabis will expand the mind.
Once again, that is not my clinical experience as a doctor. Those who use this drug more than once
a week, perhaps, are usually much less sharp mentally, often much less
motivated, and it seems like the mind is dulled to a degree. None of this would tend to promote
health and well-being. While I am
sure it is helpful for a few people, overall the effects seem negative.
This
discussion is important as more states consider Òmedical marijuana lawsÓ, which
are often just a back door way of legalizing pot smoking.
PSYCHIC VAMPIRISM AND BRAINWASHING
Another
article on this website discusses Energy Vampirism. This is the phenomenon whereby one
person can steal energy from another person by upsetting the other.
This
is related to brainwashing, in particular. In almost all cases, the operator in a brainwashing setting
is an energy vampire, sometimes called a psychic
vampire. The entire process of
brainwashing is often intended to create easy vampire victims by thoroughly
upsetting the victim in a way that will go on for years. This is the main connection between
vampirism, which is a pycho-physical-energetic
process, and brainwashing, which is more of an intellectual and controlling
process.
Hypnosis,
by the way, is more of an emotional process, though it too is used by psychic
vampires to rob people of energy.
PSYCHOTRONICS, RADIONICS
AND MORE MODERN BRAINWASHING METHODS
In
the past 50 years or so, electronic methods of brainwashing have been developed
that are quite effective, especially against some people. They are more effective against those
who have a weak mind, a weak will, and those who are more ill, more
nutritionally deficient and more toxic with heavy metals. As this is a large subject, a separate
article on this website entitled Psychotronics
And Radionics discusses this important subject
and how to combat it.
IS BRAINWASHING AND HYPNOSIS EVER A GOOD THING?
The
answer, I would maintain, is no.
That is why this article has been written. Unless we see and understand the phenomenon of brainwashing,
it will just continue to cripple intellectually and emotionally millions around
the world. Ending it is not easy,
but it is slowly happening as people develop themselves spiritually and the
truth becomes known.
BRAINWASHING INTERFERES WITH ONEÕS GUIDANCE
Ridding
the mind of its programming, conditioning and brainwashing is often the single
greatest key to tuning into your own guidance, whether this be from your high
self, God, angels, ascended masters or others.
In
fact, a goal of hypnotic suggestions and brainwashing is to separate a person
from his or her own knowing, intuition, common sense and guidance. It is as if everything a person thinks and
even feels is always filtered or processed through oneÕs brainwashing. This is sad but true.
A RELIGIOUS UNDERSTANDING OF BRAINWASHING AND HYPNOSIS
The
Hebrew and Christian bibles may by discussing brainwashing and hypnosis when
they believe that Òwe are all sinnersÓ.
This could be interpreted to mean that, to some degree, at least, our
minds and hearts are not our own.
They have been altered and distorted or twisted by certain forces on
this planet.
A
somewhat similar idea is found in A
Course In Miracles, a controversial, but interesting religious book. It states that we are all perfect
children of God, but we are all confused.
IS BRAINWASHING THE SAME AS TORTURE?
The
answer is no. Torture is just
inflicting pain of some kind.
Brainwashing is a precise mixture of pain and rewards that are timed
perfectly to alter consciousness in very specific ways.
Torture
is always part of brainwashing, although the torture could be very subtle, such
as confusing a child with odd requests.
However, torture by itself is not the same as brainwashing.
POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES AND BRAINWASHING
The
elites versus the individual in society. Today there is a
clear effort by a group of planners, shall we say, to move the entire planet
earth away from some traditional Western and Christian values of hard work,
biblical principles such as the Ten Commandments, honesty, limited government
by a constitution, and individual freedom.
This
group prefers a society run by college-trained elites, based on a new set of
political and moral values. Among
the main ones are that feelings matter more than facts, truth is all relative
rather than there being right or wrong, and nothing is absolute. Of course, this is nonsense. However, it is essential to confuse the
mind if one is to brainwash the people easily. The ÒnewÓ, ÒliberalÓ value system is really a virtual
reality that is designed to make it easy for the leaders to stay in power by
confusing and upsetting people.
This is one reason they absolutely hate Christians who simply wonÕt go
along with the gay agenda and the moral relativism agenda.
The
rewards and punishments used today by the planners, as I will call them, are
often of two kinds. One involves
messages that human beings are killing the planet. I call this apocalyptic environmentalism. This is a lie, by the way. The earth is not dying, and in fact is
in much better shape than it was 100 years ago when wood was the main fuel and
building material and toxic chemical dumping was far more common.
The
second area of punishments and rewards have to do with money. Instead of rewarding effort and hard
work, which is what happens in a free market, capitalist society, the planners
hand out money through government grants to those who go along with
agenda. Meanwhile, they impose
fines or high taxes on those who donÕt go along. Oil companies, coal companies and other are labeled as
ÒpollutersÓ, and are singled out for even minor infractions of their myriad of
laws, and others. This has a
chilling effect on all business activity since anyone potentially could be
found guilty of using too much oil or coal or something else that might not be
good for the planet. While the
idea of punishing polluters is good in theory, it is taken to extremes for the
purpose of upsetting everyone, especially the smarter and more productive
members of society, who are usually also the wealthier people and the ones in
need of being controlled, according to the planners.
Other
more sinister ways to control people today is for the government to take over
their health care and their education costs.
Another
method is to pronounce dire consequences to our present way of life, all of
which are lies. I studied the work
of Buckminster Fuller in the 1970s, as he was one of the first to challenge the
environmentalists. Fuller turned
out to be correct, while the others were claiming we would all be dead of
pollution by 1990. Fuller said no,
that humans are wise and the free market finds solutions for technical problems
such as pollution, which he said is nothing more than a resource in the wrong
place or time.
However,
the prophets of doom are out in full force these days, scaring people about
every single aspect of modern capitalist society. This, however, is mainly an old brainwashing tactic, since one
must stress the people and upset them in order to control them.
The
planners already control the Òold mediaÓ – television and newspapers,
mainly, another old-fashioned brainwashing method. They also control the public schools through unions, mainly,
which is why they vigorously oppose home schooling and private schooling of the
young. All tyrants have taken
control of the media and education of the young for this reason. Thus one should always be suspicious of
anyone who suggests more government funding of education, health care, the
media, and all schemes such as Ònet neutralityÓ, Òfairness doctrinesÓ and other
government intrusions into basic freedoms of speech, assembly and the press.
An
old conflict that is coming to a head.
This battle for peopleÕs minds is not new on earth. It is just getting more obvious as the
old order is fading. There has
always been a conflict between the rights and freedoms of the individual versus
the rule of elites who seek to control others.
The
Republican model of society versus the socialist or communist model. America was to have
been the shining light for the rights and value of the individual, personal
freedom and biblical values. This
is the essence of the American model of society, as written about clearly by
the founders of America. It
happens to be the best cure for some forms of brainwashing and even hypnosis.
Things
have not worked out that well for America, but she may be moving back toward
her founding values as her finances and world power begin to fade due to
misguided policies that are bankrupting the nation and other forces at work in
the world.
