In order to undo traumas, it is important to replace negative and horror thoughts with more pleasant ones.  This is called thought replacement.  This article describes some ways to do this.

1. Cognitive/analytical methods.  These are standard methods used in psychotherapy.  They basically rely on improving oneÕs understanding of the trauma, and this can allow some processing of the trauma to occur.  While somewhat effective, this method is slow and usually incomplete.

2. Our nutritional or bioenergetic method.  This is how The Development Program removes or undoes traumas.  This method does not rely on insights or analysis of oneÕs trauma or situation.

Instead, the focus is on restoring the bodyÕs adaptive or biochemical energy in many ways.  As this is done, the body and brain will automatically process any ÒunfinishedÓ or ÒunprocessedÓ incidents or situations.

Methods used include a particular warming and detoxifying diet of mainly cooked vegetables, a set of specific nutritional supplements, the use of oxygen and ozone (very powerful for some people), coffee enemas (also very powerful), use of vaginal peroxide implants, reddish heat lamp sauna sessions, rubbing the feet, twisting the spine, and the Pulling Down Mental Exercise.

The combination of these methods can be very effective.

Advantages of this method are its speed and its completeness.  It is also inexpensive compared to traditional psychotherapy.  Also, one need not know consciously what happened to cause the trauma.

Disadvantages are that it must be done just right, and it generally cannot be done by oneself.  It requires a complete development program.  Repeated hair mineral tests are needed to assess the body periodically and to keep the program up to date.

3. Kinesiological/energetic methods.  These include bodywork such as Rolfing, structural integration, Hellerwork, and some types of deep massage.  It might also include foot and hand reflexology.  These methods are interesting.  They are based partly on the idea that memories are locked into the body tissues.  Releasing the tissues releases and brings up the memories and allows one to process them.

Advantages to this method are similar to that of the biochemical method above.  One need not know exactly what happened, and healing can be rapid.  Disadvantages include some pain, and healing is often not complete.  Also, one must find a qualified therapist and it is more difficult for young women, who must often disrobe partially for these therapies.

4. Psychodrama, which is a form of acting, role-playing and reframing.  This is a psychotherapeutic technique in which one pretends one is someone else playing a role.  It often allows a person to see things differently, face oneÕs fear or terror of a situation, and thus move on.

Advantages of this method are its speed and often surprising completeness when done right.  Disadvantages are the possibility of re-traumatizing a person, the need for a very competent guide or therapist, and the need for trust if one is acting out delicate situations.  In addition, it involves a number of people, so it is an expensive therapy.  These make it a difficult therapy to do well.

Native people use this method in America and elsewhere.  They call it community healing because they involve the entire tribe, often, and it works well.  For details, read Psychodrama.

5. Prayer and spiritual immersion.  This is a very ancient method of thought replacement.  It can include the use of affirmations, which sort of brainwash or alter oneÕs perception.  It also includes becoming the witness to help one observe oneself.

Usually, one does it oneself, generally, without the need for a therapist or for trust in a partner.  One simply learns to work with the mind silently and serenely.

Advantages of this method are no need for a therapist, safety, low cost and good results.  Disadvantages are it often requires years of practice, requires lots of discipline, and is tedious and somewhat boring. Thus it is difficult for many people to do on their own, or even in a group or monastery situation.  For details, read Prayer and other articles on prayer on this website.

6. Breathing and physical exercise methods.  These include hatha yoga, running, jogging, deep breathing and other exercise methods.  Here the emphasis is on physical exercise.  This is helpful for some people.

Advantages of these methods are they release some anger and tension, and they are relatively simple and easy to do alone or with a guide or teacher.  Disadvantages are that they can wear out the body and are often less complete in their action.

7. Christian spiritual healing.  This is seen on Christian television and depicted in the Bible and elsewhere in stories and movies.  This is the use of healing miracles to shift energies quickly and radically.

Advantages to this method are its completeness when it is effective, and its ease, speed and low cost.  Disadvantages are that it does not always happen as planned, and it may not be complete in some cases.

8. True love, human or divine.  This is the idea that if one is loved enough, it can instantly or slowly change a person and eliminate traumas, among many other wonderful effects.

Advantages of this method are its low cost.  Disadvantages are that it is rare to experience this level of love.  This method is seen in families and couples where one simply will not give up on another person, prays constantly, for example, and slowly somehow the trauma is overcome.

9. Emoting, crying, forgiving and repenting.  This can be part of many of the methods above.  I list it separately because it can be an approach all its own.  The idea is to face the situation, forgive everyone involved, and literally try to upset oneself enough that one cries or screams out, asking for help and mercy and repentance.

Advantages of this method are that it is quite effective, when done well, and is simple to do, at least in theory.  Disadvantages are that it is not easy for some people to forgive others, for example, to repent, to really feel and cry deeply, and so on.  It takes a certain amount of courage and maturity, willingness to be vulnerable, and a certain intellectual understanding, as well.

This list of methods above is not complete, but includes most methods that are used and have been used for millennia to change a personÕs thoughts – a necessary and critical step in undoing all trauma in the body and brain.
