CORRECTIONS AND UPDATES FOR THE EDITIONS OF THE LEGAL GUIDELINES BOOK PRIOR TO 2010

1. HIPAA.  This is the so-called privacy act that does the opposite – it often keeps medical information away from family and friends who may want and need it, but it allows the doctor, lab or hospital to share your personal, private medical information with over 40 government agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service and other snoops.

It is a horrible law that should be repealed at once.  I would not participate in this scam.  Unlicensed or small offices may not be technically required to participate, anyway.

2. Private Membership Associations.  I have researched these a little more.  They appear to be valid ways to limit some government interference with your practice, and I will continue to report here my findings.
