ENERGY HEALING, SPIRITUAL HEALING, PRAYER, HOMEOPATHY AND RADIONICS

The subject of this article is energy healing methods, a very large topic.  At one level, all healing is energy healing because matter is nothing but condensed energy.  This, of course, would include nutrition, lifestyle, drugs, surgery, herbs and most every form or aspect of healing.  However, usually this is not the definition of energy healing or energetic healing.

Definition of energy healing.  A broad definition of energy healing is the use of methods that alter and influence the subtle energy system of a human being.  Energy healing techniques are usually defined as those in which the movement or balancing of subtle forms of energy is the primary intent and focus of the technique.  This is a very general definition of a huge area of medicine and healing.

Before discussing specifics about it, I want to issue a warning about energetic healing methods.  It is the same warning as for other methods, but it is more important with energy healing methods.

PROBLEMS WITH MANY ENERGY MEDICINE TECHNIQUES

The problems fall into several categories:

                  1. Ignorance leading to misuse of the techniques.  This is extremely common.  Many people and practitioners just do not understand what they are doing well enough, or they donÕt realize how powerful their method can actually be.  They may take a class or buy an electrical healing machine and not really know how to use the method properly.  As a result, they can introduce stray frequencies into a patient or client, and do other types of damage.

This is so common, in fact, in homeopathy, acupuncture, yoga, jin shin jyutsu and similar techniques that I suggest avoiding them altogether.  Other articles on this website discuss the specific problems we find with yoga and acupuncture.

                  2. Sloppiness or arrogance with the techniques.  This is often due to ignorance, but it can be due to a sloppy quality or tendency that can be quite harmful with some energy medicine methods.

                  3. Using them to intentionally harm another person.  For example, some people literally pray that another person will be harmed or even killed.  Other common examples are black magic, voodoo, casting spells on people, and many others.  Sadly, these methods of black magic, basically, work in some cases.  They use the same principles and can affect the energy field of another person.  In the wrong hands, energy medicine techniques can therefore be very dangerous.

If this is being done to you, the only answers are to eat very well, and avoid vegetarian diets, raw food diets, all yin foods, all drugs, if possible, and beverages such as alcohol.  Keep your thoughts positive all the time, and watch your life carefully as energetic techniques are designed to Ņtrip you upÓ, at times.

Because of the extreme danger of many energy medicine techniques, I usually suggest avoiding most of them.  Prayer is fine, but even here it can be used incorrectly for selfish purposes.

Nutritional balancing makes use of three energetic methods.  The first is the use of a reddish heat lamp or sauna made with several reddish heat lamps.  This has proven to be quite safe in thousands of people.  However never shine the light on your head area for more than 10 minutes at a time.   That is the most important caution with it.

Another method that is highly recommended in nutritional balancing science is the Roy Masters meditation process, with my modifications.  This, too, we have found to be extremely safe in all cases.  The third is foot and hand reflexology, which also seems to be extremely safe.  The others are less safe.

Another excellent technique when done properly is Reiki, but only if done correctly.   Never add to the technique and never circulate the energy back to yourself from a client.  Because these two mistakes are easy to make, I donÕt recommend Reiki too much.

Other methods are much less safe, so I donÕt recommend them.  They are not as accurate and are easy to misuse and do damage.  They include many such as yoga, tai chi, chi gung, jin shin jyutsu, all the healing machines, homeopathy, herbal therapies and others.  The machines may be used for diagnostic purposes, but even there one must be careful and not always trust them.

This is somewhat unfortunate, but I think it is best that people know the dangers of energy medicine, because it is so appealing, at times.

Now let us examine some of the most popular methods of energy healing or, as it is sometimes called, energy medicine.

EXAMPLES OF ENERGY HEALING METHODS

There are thousands of energy healing methods.  Space only permits a brief mention of a few of them.  Some are household words such as prayer and meditation, while others are less well known.   While many are Eastern in origin, a surprising number developed in the West.  Let us begin with one that everyone is somewhat familiar with.

Prayer.  Praying, and singing chants are used in all religions as healing methods.  Some call it spiritual healing, while others just call it laying on of hands or other terms.  Prayer and some meditations are ways of concentrating the mind on an intent or outcome or desire that something be done, or healed or turned over to God or released, perhaps.

Prayer is a wonderful method of healing because it can be done anywhere without the use of fancy equipment or special training.  However, training the mind to be quiet and calm, and then training it to focus carefully on the desired outcome or intent are necessary for effective prayers.  Some people are naturally good at this, while others must learn it by practicing.

As with all methods of energetic healing, prayer can be abused.  One could ask in prayer that harm come to another whom you do not like, for instance.  One can also ask in prayer for millions of dollars, for example when you donÕt need it and it would just spoil you.  One could ask in prayer for a certain outcome such as a divorce or a marriage, when really this is not the optimum outcome for the person.  So prayer can definitely be abused, and it is abused in many cases by selfish prayers, for example.  For much more on prayer, read Prayer on this website.

Acupuncture originated in India and is thousands of years old.  It  postulates the existence of energy channels in the body, called meridians, that control all bodily functions.  The acupuncturist assesses these meridians and then uses needles, herbs and occasionally other methods to strengthen and balance the energy meridians.

Acupressure, jin shin jyutsu, shiatsu massage, and others. These and other methods are also based on the meridian system of the body, or the flow of chi, qu or subtle energy.  Instead of needles, however, the practitioner uses touch or pressure to affect the flow of energy in the meridian system.

Other methods of energy healing include yoga, chanting, singing at times, Sufi dancing, tai chi, chi kung, Polarity, therapeutic touch, craniosacral work, Feldenkreis work, chakra balancing, some forms of meditation, imagery and visualization techniques. Others are prayer and the laying on of hands.

Foot and hand reflexology, also called zone therapy, is a newer Western method of healing that is somewhat different.  It may be called an energetic healing method.  However, it is based upon opening and clearing a different set of energy channels that run parallel to each other up and down the body.  For more on this very excellent and interesting technique, read Reflexology on this site.

Machines.  There are literally hundreds of different machines today that are designed to broadcast energetic energy into human beings.  Some, such as TENS units, diathermy machines, and red heat lamps, are used in health care today.  All do essentially the same thing, in that they can activate, balance, suppress, nourish or otherwise affect the bodyÕs subtle energy systems.

Among the names of these units are electro-acupuncture according to Voll (EAV), vega, computron, QXCI, ionic foot baths, vibration tables, vibe machine, and Hulda Clark zappers.              Others include diathermy, acuscope, multi-wave oscillators, Rife machines, Bioenergy Field Enhancement Units, Microdynameter, and many, many others.

Some work at a distance, or with some of them the patient holds electrodes or places his feet on metal pads, or there may be some other method to hook the patient up to the machine.

Other types of energy therapies.  Aromatherapy is the application of herb and essences, or essential oils for healing.  This may be considered an energetic method of healing because it is not exactly a nutritional method, but depends upon subtle energies contained in the herb or flower essences.  Indeed, the energetic qualities of the oils can be measured.

Another Western method is the use of gem elixirs for healing, and the use of stones or crystals worn on the body or placed in a home are other forms of energy balancing and healing.  It is well known that different minerals have different vibrations.  The Bach flower remedies and the Schussler cell salts are energetic uses of flower essences and tissue minerals.

Color, light and sound therapies are well-researched forms of vibrational or energetic healing.  The body may be exposed to colored lights, or the patient drinks water from colored containers that have been left in the sun to acquire the frequency of that color.  Nutritional balancing uses the energy in the reddish heat lamps sold at most hardware stores as an energetic method.  Other colors, we find, are less important and may confuse the body today.

Applied kinesiology is a method of testing muscle strength and is also the basis for a wide array of energetic testing and healing  methods.

Geopathic sciences are concerned with the energies of the earth, and their relationship to our health.  Geomancy and geopathic stress are words that are used to describe an extensive science of how underground streams and currents of water, mainly, but also other rock formations and stress lines in the earth can affect our health, and what to do about this.

Others.  These include what are called spells, magic, voodoo, sˇances, spiritualism, casting spells and wikka or witchcraft.  These are often used to hurt people, which is one of the problems with energy medicine that I will discuss below.

There are many more energy healing sciences, but these are among the best known.

THEORY OF ENERGY MEDICINE

All energy healing methods postulate the existence of invisible fields of energy that permeate and may even create or maintain our bodies.  These fields go by various names including the chakra system, the aura, the acupuncture meridians, the channel system, vital force, chi, qi, the odic force, orgone energy and others.  Enhancing, balancing, or otherwise altering these fields or frequencies of energy is the key to all energetic healing methods.
Most or all methods of energy medicine share certain principles.  These are very important principles of subtle energy concerning not only our bodies, but our physical dimension of reality, in general.  They include:

1. Subtle energies are real, and reflect and affect our health.

2. Subtle energies actually create our physical bodies.  Therefore, subtle energy treatments may address the causes of illness at deep levels.

3. The intensity, quality, and balance of the body's energies can be altered by human contact, machines, remedies of various kinds, movements, breathing, and even one's thoughts and attitudes.

4. Another human being can be used to direct or balance energies, to absorb or broadcast energies, or to act as a "jumper cable" to connect energetic points on the body.

5. Resonance, induction and entrainment are among the most important concepts in energetic healing.

6. Resonance just means a rapport or harmony that can be established between two energies, two frequencies, two locations or two individuals.  Resonance is nothing more than rapport or harmony in some way.

7. Induction is the concept that a frequency or energy sent out by one person, remedy, substance or machine can cause or induce a similar pattern in another location, person or substance.

8. Entrainment is a fascinating process whereby one person first establishes a resonance or rapport or harmony with another person.  Then the first person alters his or her energy in order to effect change in the other.  Entrainment is used widely in hypnosis, psychotherapy, manipulative sales pitches, advertising, music and everywhere in society.  It is the basic technique of establishing rapport and then influencing or manipulating the mind, body or energies of another person.

Entrainment is also used in nature or biology to keep the young away from danger by having them entrain or follow their parents, for example.

9. Distance or location is sometimes not a barrier for energetic healing, since the energies permeate all space.  Treatments of certain kinds such as prayer may be done hands on, at a distance, mentally, or even using a surrogate to test remedies and to test frequencies.  Some of the sciences use an object from the patient, such as a photograph, or sample of hair or blood.

10. It is most helpful for the client to be receptive to the treatment.  No healing takes place unless the client wishes it to be so, whether or not healer and client  are aware of it.

11. There are layers of energetic imbalances.  While some energy medicine sciences suggest that one treatment is enough, most suggest a number of sessions to work through layers of imbalanced energies.

12. Most energetic healing methods blend physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual healing together to some degree.  Unlike conventional medical science that often tries to separate these, the energetic medical arts often see them as interdependent.

MORE ON HOMEOPATHY AND RADIONICS

Many people ask about the value of and differences between energetic approaches to healing such as homeopathy and radionics, as compared with nutritional balancing science.  This section will address concerns, especially about homeopathy.  Let us begin with important definitions.

Homeopathy is a system of healing first proposed by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann over 150 years ago.  Without going into detail, the practitioner uses very dilute, potentized dosages of all kinds of mineral, vegetable and animal substances to effect changes in the body.

Interestingly, homeopathic remedies are produced by a very specific process designed to bring out the energetic properties of the substance.  By the time they are done with processing, there is little if any of the actual substance present in the remedy.  It is a pure energetic product, in other words.

Homeopathy has two main branches of practitioners who often violently disagree with each other on the use of the remedies.

Classical homeopathy involves taking a specific type of lengthy case history that often requires several hours.  Then the homeopath prescribes a remedy based on the constitution of the person.  This is not an easy decision, as there are several thousand remedies to choose from.

If the correct remedy is given in the correct dosage and number of applications, often remarkable changes occur in the patient.  Unfortunately, a lot of training is required and even then, prescribing is lengthy, costly and not all that accurate in most cases.

Modern European Homeopathy.  Within the past two decades, another type of homeopathy has gained a lot of popularity.  It is an expansion of the old classical style that does away with the constitutional remedy in most cases.

Instead, prescribing is based on symptoms in some instances.  Also, some practitioners use electroacupuncture and other types of machines, kinesiology (muscle testing), radionic devicees (explained later) or other methods to assess the needs of the patient.

Another difference in the newer homeopathy is  the use of more modern remedies of toxic chemicals and many other things.

Radionics is a form of homeopathy that depends on identifying frequencies using various types of machines, instead of just simple substances that are used in classical and even European homeopathy.  The concept, again, is that each germ, disease, organ, nutrient and even subtle body of a person is characterized by one or more specific electromagnetic frequencies.

This is true.  However, using this knowledge correctly is another thing.

Diagnostics.  Radionic devices tune or pick up these frequencies from a personÕs body.  Thus it can be used for diagnostic purposes in amazing ways without the need for invasive and often costly tests.  It is the diagnosis of the future without a doubt.

Treatment.  The same machine can then be switched to actually add needed beneficial frequencies to the body such as those for more strength, courage, vitamins or minerals.

The devices can also usually be switched to a mode where it can help remove harmful frequencies that might, for example, correspond with a germ, parasite or particular type of cancer.

Radionics is a fascinating science that has endless possibilities and more and more machines are available using this basic technology.  A few of the more popular ones are the Computron, QXCI, Ondomed and the older SE-5 and many, many others.

The science developed in the early 20th century.  Usually the person to be helped holds electrodes or they are strapped to the body to create the interface with the machine and practitioner.  However, an exciting feature of radiionics is that it can be done at a distance with only a sample of hair, a fingernail and some claim just the signature or an object belonging to the person to be worked on.  When true, this saves a lot of time and money traveling to a practitioner, of course.

Newer machines link to computers to greatly enhance the speed at which one can search through thousands of frequencies to find the ones a person requires or those one needs to rid from the body.

Many newer machines offer an attachment whereby the practitioner can place the beneficial frequencies in a dropper bottle of water or even in a vitamin or other pill.  The practitioner basically places the bottle of distilled water or other substance on a tray or copper plate and turns some switches to energize the water or other substance with the desired frequencies.

The idea is to allow the person undergoing healing to continue the treatment at home over an extended period of time.  Otherwise the person must keep returning to the practitioner for future sessions.

Radionic machines can also check the frequencies of herbs, vitamins, drugs and any other substance by placing the substance on a charging plate similar to the plate described in the paragraph above.

ADVANTAGES OF HOMEOPATHY, RADIONICS AND MOST ENERGY MEDICINE METHODS

1. Low Cost. The remedies tend to be inexpensive and with some methods, the person can be at home and the healing can be done long distance, which saves time and money as well.

2. Simple.  Most methods do not require costly equipment, invasive procedures or other complexity.

3. Requires little or no effort on the patientÕs part. No dietary, lifestyle, emotional or attitudinal changes are required of the patient, in almost all cases.

4. Excellent, at times, for diagnosing. Some radionic machines, for example, can scan the body for thousands of imbalances in a few minutes or less.

5. Much less toxic for the body than drug medicine.

6. At times, very effective for symptom removal.  Some people swear by homeopathy, radionics, kinesiology techniques, tapping methods, and the others.  Foot reflexology, for example, is a fabulous way to reduce stress and balance the acupuncture meridians in my experience.  Acupuncture needles, shiatsu massage and many other energetic methods also work well.

PROBLEMS WITH HOMEOPATHY AND RADIONICS

Problems with energetic medicine include the following:

1. By not requiring significant lifestyle changes, along with diet and nutritional supplements, the techniques do not produce much spiritual development.  This is the main problem with all energetic healing methods.  While they can be wonderful to reduce symptoms, balance the meridians and more, they do not seem to have as much of a developmental effect on people.  This is the major reason they are not part of nutritional balancing science.

2. Dependence on the practitioner.  Many radionic machines, homeopathy and others depend a lot on the skill and intuition of the operator.  This is an advantage for the very good practitioners, but makes it hard for others to learn and apply the method.

3. Often symptomatic in nature. While there may be a few exceptions, most of these methods are aimed at removing symptoms.  This is a limited approach that can mask deeper imbalances and cause other problems as well.

4. Most do not balance body chemistry or increase vitality enough today.  Even acupuncture and acupressure, in my experience, only balance the body chemistry and increase vitality to a small degree in many cases, even though this is their goal.  This is because the bodies are so different and so toxic and nutritionally depleted today, compared with thousands of years ago when these techniques were developed.

Without a solid nutritional approach along with them, most of them simply do not work as well today as they once did.  I am sure that some will disagree with this, but it is my experience having worked with many people who use energetic methods of healing.  If they are combined with nutritional balancing science, then they will work much better in my experience.  This is a complex subject.
